I got out of my car letting Beastie out telling him to sit as I closed the car door. I tapped my leg as I started walking towards the Petco. People walking out of the store stared wide-eyed at Beastie as we walked past. I could see a kid snap a photo. Probably posting it on Snapchat like 'holy shit that dogs big.' I walked and head towards a lady who was setting dog treats on a shelve.
"Excuse me, Ma'am." I tapped her shoulder lightly. "Yes, how can I help you, sir?" She asked turning around looking at me with a smile. "Can you scan Beastie here to see if he has a chip? I found him in my yard this morning." I asked scratching his head as she looked down at him with a smile. "Yea. Just let me go get it. Just wait right there." She said pointing next to the cat house. "Okay. Thank you." I said walking over Beastie laying down next to my feet as I looked at the cats waiting.
I chuckled to myself as I looked a mixed coloured cat name Spice. "Adorable." I pulled my phone out snapping a photo send it to Maki. The typing bubbles popped up quickly and as I suspected he asked me to ask dad to adopt him. I laughed sending the photo to dad asking. "Are you the one who needs a chip scan?" I turned around at the male voice and smiled. "Yes. I'm trying to find Beastie here owners." I answered.
He had loose fluffy black hair, dark coloured eyes, and a light stubble lining his jawline. "will hello Beastie. If your mind." He spoke playfully to him. I chuckled listening for the Ting the little device would make if he had a chip. I looked at my phone seeing dad texted back. 'Only if Y'all find out who Beastie's owners are and get him home.' "Yas," I mumbled to myself just as the Ting rang out.
"Well, Beastie it looks like you're gonna be going home soon." He laughed scratching his head. "Will I'm gonna go back and see if there is a phone number attached to this chip and if so I'll call them up." Said the boy. "Thank you....." I stopped not knowing his name. "People call me, Luci. A lot of people don't like my actual name." He said laughing. "Why? What's your actual name?" I asked wondering what name was so bad.
"My name is Lucifer. Mine wasn't right in the head when he named me. He still isn't right in the head." He answered scratching the back of his head. "I mean it's just a name. You're not actual Lucifer." I said un-bothered by his name. "Wow. That's a first. Usually, people overreact and ask to be held by someone else." he chuckles, "Now I'm gonna go call his owner." He walked into the back as I continued looking at Spice the cat. Pretty soon Luci was back out and walked right over to me.
"I called and the man I talk to said he was busy for about another 30 minutes then he'd be able to come to get him. So do you mind staying here till he gets here?" He asked smiling. "I don't mind. I was actually thinking about adopting Spice here and doesn't sign the papers take a while?" I questioned looking up at him. "Yeah, it does. I'll go get you Spice's papers and you can start on it," he answered heading back into the back for a few minutes before returning with stuff for me to fill out and sign. "Thank you." I sat at the small table with one chair next to the door that leads to the back and started filling the papers out. Luci stood next to table making me look up at him. "What?" I asked thinking he had a question.
"I just want to look busy so I don't have to deal with the other people in the store." He spoke sounding honest. "I understand how you feel. I don't like working with people. It's why I quit my a part-time job at a food place." I said laughing. He chuckled a smirk on his lips. "I have a question if you don't mind me asking." I hummed for him to continue and his face got kind of red as he spoke, "Who gave you those hickeys; a girlfriend, a boyfriend or a one night stand?" He pointed at the dark circles running up my neck going under my chin. I felt my neck my face probably as red as the ink in this pen. "I won't call him my boyfriend but not a one night stand either," I said looking away slightly embarrassed.
