"Michael she's going to school not to war" I say slamming my forehead into the steering wheel in a desperate way for the ninth time. The green boy then fixes Rebecca's hair while she laughs playfully.
This morning after breakfast Michael asked me to drive him to his comic shop so I took him and the little devil afterwards I drove them to school. After yesterday night when she closed the door in my face we both pretended that nothing had happened, like I didn't see anything, like she wasn't crying for something.
I thought about it all night, maybe she was crying because she misses her mother, maybe because one of her dresses was dirty or maybe because Daniel in her damaged mind told her something bad, but it wasn't her crying leaving me confused, what made me stay up all night was the way she stood up as cold as ice, staring at me with her eyes full of tears, and slammed the door in my face letting me understand she wanted to stay alone.
I slammed my door in my parent's face a lot of times too, every time something happened to me I just ran into my room locking myself inside not wanting anyone near me.
Those were my problems and I needed to solve them by myself without anyone helping me, but this is something that a teenager looking for independence does, not a five year old kid."So, in your lunch box there's a cheese sandwich with Mexican tomatoes, if that's not enough I gave you a protein bar which is super healthy with carrots that will make your eyes more powerful, and there's also some biological juice, its pear ju..." Michael starts keeping her inside the car too long but out of nowhere she interrupts him.
"Thanks uncle Mikey" She says before pecking his cheek and grabbing her backpack running to her school. Suddenly she stops in front of the main door, I look at her while she stands still staring at the door and bringing Daniel closer to her chest, oh god, here we go again.
I leave Michael in the car and I walk to the little one that stays standing still without moving even when some kids run next to her excited to go to class.
I go by her side with my hands in the pockets of my jeans, we both look at the open door and the colorful hallway full of kids drawing."You act like a badass and a smart ass but you are scared of a door snotty?" I ask mocking her a little, she bites her lip before shaking a little to wake herself up.
"Be on time" She says before taking a small step towards the door but then stops again with a scared and unconfident look on her face, still holding Daniel in her arms.
I smile a little before walking past her, while I walk without looking in front of me."You want to lose your lesson snotty?" I ask making her smile a little.
She follows me with less fear until we reach her classroom, she looks at me trying to make me understand that she's okay now.
She then sits in a place near a window without saying hi to kids.I stare at the little one while she just stays still on her desk with Daniel on the floor, I look at how her eyes are looking outside the window when all the other kids are talking or playing together, she just sits there alone.
How? When we are at home she talks literally with everyone, even with the postman.
"She's a smart kid" Someone next to me says making me jump.
I raise a hand to my chest feeling my heart beat fast as fuck, and when I turn around I see female Piton looking at me."Oh fuck, yeah, sure, I have to go" I say trying to avoid a weird conversation with this scary woman, she nods before staring at me.
"She deserves a good father Mr. Irwin" I look at her confused before going away to drive to work with Michael.
"Look who comes to see you at work" I immediately recognize Luke's voice, I don't need to turn around to know who's table I'll serve.
I finish serving a table full of old ladies that usually leave me good tips and wink at me every time.
The older ladies are nice when they don't try to reach inside my pants to put tips in my pockets.
