Chapter 6

------Story Continues------

I was getting ready as fast as I possibly could. I brushed my teeth, washed my face, waxed my legs, etc. I wanted to look decent for Krism’s arrival. I started to get really nervous and excited. I couldn't wait to see her.

When the doorbell rang, I ran as fast as I could to the door. I asked who it was, even though I knew it was Krism.

"Uhh, it's Krism" she says nervously. I fixed my hair and instantly opened the door to see this beautiful young woman. The same one that I met at the Café.

"Hi Krism! Come in" I greeted her. She slowly walked inside and looked around. I locked the door and walked in front of her. She looked shocked. She bowed her head down.

“Is something wrong?” I asked.

“No...uhh...no it’s not that...This place is so big. I-” I could hear her voice start to crack, again.

“Krism?” I was getting worried now. Why was she crying? I wasn’t able to see her face but I could clearly see the tears dripping from her chin to the floor. Before I could ask what was wrong, Krism hugged me, tightly.

“Than- Thank you. Thank you so much Michelle. This is so much to offer. I- I thought I was going to have to live in the streets. I- I…” Krism mumbled, crying on my shoulder. I felt my face heat up. I hugged Krism, rubbing her back to try to calm her down. She was soaking wet. I didn’t know that it was raining. If I had said no, she would have had to stand there in the rain. The thought of that broke my heart.

“Krism...Shhh…It’s okay.” I could feel Krism’s body slowly stop shaking. She must be exhausted from the walk over to my house. I wanted to let her feel comfortable in my house.

“Krism, you’re soaking wet. You can go shower in the upstairs bathroom. When you get up the stairs, just turn left and go down the hall and then turn right. I don’t want you to start using your clothes since I could feel your backpack, and it feels light so, just use one of my shirts for now. Okay?” Krism stopped hugging me and looked up. She must have been about 5’1 or 5’4 because she had to look straight up for her to actually look at my face since I was around 6’2.

“Use one of your shirts? Yeah, okay. Thanks.” I ran upstairs and grabbed my favorite shirt from the closet and ran back to Krism. When I came back with my shirt, Krism was standing in a pool of water shivering.

“Here. Now hurry before you catch a cold.” I said while handing her my shirt. She tightens her grip on her backpack and runs upstairs. I grabbed a napkin from the kitchen and cleaned up the pool of water on the floor. I noticed that there was blood mixed in with the dirty water. I became increasingly worried now.
