"What's the plan for today?"
I asked over a delicious omelette.
"Hiking" he replied casually while spreading apricot jam over a piece of buttered toast."You're kidding?!"
"No, there's a reason I bought you hiking boots, remember?"
"I was hoping they were only meant for fashion" I pouted. He chuckled and shook his head.
"I suggest you go and pack a few things, I have everything already packed, I also put water bottles in the freezer and fridge beforehand so we're covered, I also bought some light snacks Incase we got hungry"I nodded but an idea suddenly struck me.
"How about we also have a picnic at the same time?"
"That's not planned for but..."
"But... it's a good idea, right?" I smirked.
"It is" he sighed."Then what would you like to eat?"
"You don't need to make anything, we can just buy some type of takeout, especially since I'm not certain if this place will be suitable for a picnic""One, it's not the same, the one thing that makes a picnic a picnic is the home cooked meals that are convenient to carry and eat outside and two, how about you tell me where we're going"
I said annoyed."No, I'm not really where we're going so forget it, anyway what are my options then?"
"Never mind, you lost your chance at choosing our meal for today, I'm making mini wheels"
"Mini wheels?"
"It's what my mom calls stuffed pinwheels"He raised an eyebrow.
"It's meant for picnics?"
"No, it's something you eat not only for picnics but it's a quick and easy meal to just eat on a daily basis""No, I mean what is it?"
"It's basically tortilla spirals, so I'll be making two different kinds, one flavored with curry powder, the other with garlic and herbs"
"Which one do you recommend?"
"My personal favorite is the curry one only because I'm not that big of a fan of garlic"I walked over to the fridge and started pulling out vegetables and placed them on the kitchen island.
I looked up to see Derick staring at me and I quickly turned away to the cupboards.
"Alright, now tell me what stuffing you'd like"
"What are my options?"
"Beef, chicken and salami"
"Honestly, I like all three but let's go the easy rout and choose salami"
"Tough luck buddy, we don't have that so none of them are easy, we're going chicken""What if I wanted beef-"
"We're making chicken, end of story, any objections?" I smiled looking up.
"No, no, none at all, you're scary when you want to be"
"You have seen nothing yet"
I chuckled.I passed him the vegetables that was already on the counter.
"What are you just standing there for? Get to work"
"Yes ma'am"
He started of cutting the peppers into strips and left picking out the basil for later.Traditionally you're supposed to roast the peppers before cutting them into strips but I find this easier to do.
In the mean time I started looking for the curry after coming up, empty handed I decided to just go with the garlic instead, just holding out on putting to much of it in.
"I thought you said you're making it curry flavored?"
"You're lucky we even have tortillas, so stop complaining"While I was still in the middle of pounding sliced cooked chicken, the doorbell rang.
I raised an eyebrow at Derick.
"Are you expecting someone?"
"No"
He got up and walked to the entrance, I heard the door open softly but then quickly slam back shit startling me."What is that guy doing?"
I mumbled to myself.
I sighed and walked to the door pushing Derick out of the way and opened it once more.Well then that was the last person I expected to show up on the doorstep.
