Sock squealed and blushed until her fabric was as red as the sunset. "Oh, Clorox, YES!" She said, out of breath from her happiness. I got off of my "knee" and pulled her into a long, cozy hug. "I love you, Sock, I think more you know. I hope we can live all our days together."
Sock nodded, pecking me on the "cheek". "Our life will be wonderful. The kids will grow up to be doctors and lawyers, we'll live all our days together until your plastic is faded and my hem is frayed. Oh, Clorox, I love you so much." I nodded and we sat down. "Do you remember how we met?" I asked, looking into Sock's adoring eyes. "Yes," said Sock, smiling and looking at the sunset. "There I sat, in a KFC. Of all places!" I laughed. Our love was unlike any other. "You asked my name," She continued, looking into my eyes, "It was like love at first sight. I just, somehow, knew that we would be happy together, no matter the hard times and the fights."
I nodded again. "Then I kissed you," I said, blushing slightly, "And stormed out of the KFC. I thought I was so stupid to think I could be in love with clothing."
"And then the lawsuit," Said Sock, sighing. "The lawsuit," I repeated. "And now we're here," summarized Sock, smiling her beautiful smile of pure happiness. "Two kids, a legal relationship, and soon to be married!" I smiled; I loved this sock. She was perfect for me. I was perfect for her. I had always thought I would never find true love; that I would always just walk around the Outside and the Laundry Machine. Well, for lack of better words, I guess I proved myself wrong.
****HOME
I held hands with Sock as we watched the news together. They were talking about the newly-passed law that clothing and cleaner could finally be in love legally. I smiled as Sock put her "head" on my "shoulder". I was proud of what we had accomplished. I thought back to Sock's words from earlier; Two kids, a legal relationship, and soon to be married!
It was wonderful to finally be in a relationship that I wanted to be in. I was just getting sick of seeing clothes like Anne when I met Sock. My life was complete and I knew that no matter how rich or how poor we were, we would still love each other more than anyone in the universe. I looked down at Sock's lap to see her bouncing the children up and down. I smiled and laid my "head" on her lap, right next to the children. Stewella lifted her hand slowly and slapped my face. Sock laughed. Stewella was just like her mother. I lifted my "head" and brought a hand to my face. It stung, but I saw Sock's face so I laughed with her.
When we put the kids to bed, we sat on the floor and watched them for a while. We must've fallen asleep because next thing I knew, it was morning and Sock was gone. She really had a knack for disappearing right before I woke up. I rolled out of bed, (literally) and slowly walked downstairs. Sock was breastfeeding them again. she had just finished when I sat down. I gave her a kiss on her "cheek," and got up again. "Hey love?" I asked. "Yes honey?" she replied, now burping Stewella and Jim. "I was thinking, since I usually leave for work early, maybe you might consider getting a job?" She stayed silent. "What about the kids?" she whispered. I cleared my throat and started. "Maybe you could find a job that has an earlier schedule than mine and we could each spend half the day with the kids!" Her eyes lit up. "Clorox, you genius! That's a great idea! The wedding would be even sooner!" She stood up and wrapped her arms around me.
TWO WEEKS LATER****
Today was the day Sock would be interviewed for her new job! I helped her decide what outfit to wear and even did her hem! I took a step back. She looked stunning, like a businesswoman, but a sock. Why do I feel like I've said that before?
We left the kids with a babysitter again and I drove Sock all the way to the town hall, where she would be interviewed. I was curious to know what job she was going to have. "So Sock, I'm curious to know what job you're going for?" I questioned. She looked at me and smiled. "The secretary position is open and the mayor says I have potential!" she cheered. I mustered a smile. "That's great honey!" I yelled, a little too loudly. I couldn't believe Sock is going to be a secretary of all things. But that would mean... ANNE IS SOMEWHERE OUT THERE! Maybe I was being a bit paranoid but Sock is my number one priority right now and I hoped that Anne wasn't plotting Anne-ything...
