I walked into the tack room and looked under some old covers and found a blue halter that looked preferably old. I grabbed it. I walked at a fast past over to Legacy's stall. Alena opened up the door, as I slowly walked in. Legacy backed up to the corner of his stall. I was nervous he was going to bite me but I tried to keep my confidence up by taking deep breaths. He stood still. His eyes flaring the white.
I took one step at a time. "It's ok boy" I whispered. The halter touched his nose. He had never had human contact before. He was a wild Kaimanawa horse like all the other horses here, but he wasn't as calm and happy like they were, he was scared and frightened.
He flinched a little. But stopped. I slid the halter over his muzzle then slid it up till it came up to his ears. I walked slowly to the other side and belted it up to the right length. I turned and saw Alena, she was stunned. Her mouth was open. Her facial expression told me everything she was going to say.
"Wow!" Alena stood there in shock. I looked at her and smiled. There was a nearby lead sitting in the trunk outside Legacy's stall. I reached over and grabbed it. I turned and walked slowly back to him. He stood still as usual. The lead was gripped tight in my hands. I let him sniff it, then I clipped it on the halter. I pulled on it a little bit to get him to come forward. He hesitated and stomped his back left hoof. I pulled on it again. I was trying to tell him who was boss. This time he walked forward. I walked up to him and pet him. "Good boy" I said happily. His eyes went less tense. He looked relaxed and careful to be around, but he hasn't caught my trust yet.
"Can you please open up the stall door?" I asked Alena. She nodded. She unhitched the stall door bolt. And pulled the door open. China stood over by the now open stall door. I lead Legacy out, trying to be as careful as I could to not get to close to him. We walked slowly down the aisle towards the yards. I stopped, letting Legacy eat some grass nearby. Alena walked over to a yard gate and pulled it open. I walked Legacy over to the entrance of the yards. We walked slowly in. Dirt flicked up behind his legs. He flicked the dirt with his tail. Alena closed the gate.
Alena was in a yard pen next to me. With China. Alena looked over the rails. And smiled. China was nudging her shoulder affectionately. I led Legacy around. He held his head high like he was proud. It was good for him to be out of his stall. But we were only aloud to have 30 minutes to use the pens as everyone needed to use them too. I looked over my shoulder at Alena. And gestured that I was leaving. Alena got the sign and opened the yard gate for me and Legacy. China was walking beside Alena as we walked the horses back up to their stalls.
Megan and her friend were giggling outside the stalls. We were walking past. Legacy snorted at her. Which made Megan angry. She was dressed in her breeches, a white top, toped of with her new expensive knee high riding boots, she had her corp in her right hand, and her cellphone in the other. Megan whipped Legacy with the corp. He spooked and reared. He pushed me over when his legs thrashed out in front of him. I felt pain in my arm. Then suddenly I went dizzy and fell over. "Isabella are you ok?" Alena asked. I stuttered a low reply. "I don't know, my arm really hurts and my head is sore, where is Legacy? Is he ok?" I asked. "Yes he's fine, help is coming". Next I hear are the sirens coming into the Stables
