Today is the day. From Italy to New Jersey, I will be rejoining the dark side, otherwise known as high school.

This whole 'public school' thing is new to me. I've only gone to a private school my entire life. Now I'm gonna be with people of all races, both genders, and different religions.

I look down at my schedule.

All classes I hate

All classes I hate. The only one I'm even remotely good at is ELA. It's just reading, right?

Not gonna lie, these teachers have strange last names. "Do we have any classes together?" I ask Chase, who's playing Fortnite on his iPhone.

"You're a junior. Why would we have classes together?" He says without making an effort to look at me.

"Vaffanculo," *fuck off,* I roll my eyes and look back down at my schedule.

The bus comes to a sudden stop and throws me out of my seat. "Che diavolo!" *what the hell!*

"Blend in, Chloe. Speak English," Chase stands up from his seat and doesn't even reach his hand out to help me up.

I stand up and brush off my jeans and pick up my schedule, which I had lost grip of.

When I hop off the bus, I see a large building with many people effortlessly entering. "Come on," Chase grabs my arm. "Ouch!" I moan and yank my arm back.

We enter the school and I can feel my heart begin to pound at an irregular pace. No one looks at me, nor do they even care.

"Don't get lost," Chase nudges me before walking off. "A 'have a good day' would've nice," I roll my eyes and cross my arms.

So many thoughts play through my head at once. I hate huge crowds. I walk through, what occurred to be, the lobby.

I accidentally hit someone with my backpack as I make a turn. "Bitch!" They turn around. She was a tall, thin, brunette.

"Mi dispiace, cagna," *I'm sorry, bitch,* I give her a blank look and then walk away, knowing one person already hates me.

Grayson's POV

I sit back in my chair, avoiding all of the shit Scarlett had to say about who knows what. "She spoke in a different language. Like why couldn't she speak my fuckin' language?" She chews her gum like a horse.

"Oh my gosh," I hear her say under her breath. "What?" I sigh and look up. "That's her," she says.

I look at the front of the classroom and see a brown haired girl walk in with her schedule in one hand and phone in the other.

She looks down at the floor, then back up. She looks around the classroom and pushes her hair behind her ears.

She must be new or something because she looks hella lost. "Ew, she's even uglier in the distance," she cringes.

I block her out because she was so far from being right. This girl had something about her that you couldn't keep your eyes off of.

ding ding ding

The warning bell goes off, making me zone back in to what I was doing before she walked in. "What do you think, Gray?"

"About what?" I look at Scarlett. "That girl," she groans.

"Oh, um... I don't know. I don't even know her, Scar," I shrug.

"Ugh, I meant looks," she rolls her eyes.

ding

The final bell goes off and Mr. Carpipabichi walks in. "Alright, class, lets get started!" He interrupts Scarlett from talking to me.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

"Okey dokey, we're gonna have such a great day today. The suns out, no buns out! This is school, not a strip club," he chuckles.

I hear some students mumble 'oh my god' in annoyance. "Oh, look! Our new student. Would you like to introduce yourself?"

Everyone turns to the new girl, who was sitting in the back of the room.

Chloe's POV

"Um, s-sure," I slowly push my seat out and stand up. "I'm Chloe Varela and I'm from Florence, Italy."

The teacher starts clapping and shakes his head with a smile. "Such a brave soul. We're off to a great start! Go ahead and take your seat."

This dude is insane.

Grayson's POV

As the new girl stands up to introduce herself, I see Scarlett whisper things to Olivia and Allison, her 'best friends.'

"I'm Chloe Varela and I'm from Florence, Italy."

Chloe Varela. She was tall and so thin. She's Italian, which is insane because I am too.

"Alright, today we'll be taking a pre as- Are you sad?" He looks at one of the students. Now it's going to be 'therapy hour.'

"Guys, if you ever have any problems, you can come to me. I have a lot of experience in life."

———

The bell rings and I wake up from my daily nap that I take in this class. I stand up and quickly grab my backpack and look for Chloe.

I see her putting her notebook and pencil into her backpack. I walk up to her and take a deep breath.

"Ciao, sono Grayson," *Hi, I'm Grayson,* I say. She looks up in shock and freezes.

Chloe's POV

"Ciao, sono Grayson." I look up and see a really attractive boy standing in front of me.

Why is he talking to me? He probably got set up to do this. It's a prank. He's just doing this to make fun of me.

My eyes water up and I quickly walk out of the class without responding to him. When I'm in the hallway, I take rapid breaths and look down at the floor.

What is wrong with me? Good job, Chloe. You just fucked up everything.

My next class was health, which shouldn't be too bad.

———

I walk in and see a google presentation prepared on the board entitled 'reproduction.'

"Are you fucking kidding me?" I say to myself. I find an empty seat and set my bag under my chair.

Everyone takes their seat after the teacher walks in and gives them a dirty look. A boy that has a familiar face walks up to me. "That's my seat," he points at his desk.

"Oh, I'm so sorry," I feel my cheeks burning up.

I stand up and grab my bag. "Ah, miss Varela, you can take a seat in front next to Violet."

Violet turns and waves to me. Bitch, why are you waving at me? You don't know me.

I sit down and glance at her. "I heard you're new. What's your name?" She smiles.

"Chloe," I say with no emotion. "I'm Violet Lunar."
