Jackson's soft snoring woke me that morning. No, not Jackson, Violet's roommate.
The memories of last night flashed through my head. Jackson getting drunk, me coming here and telling Violet what happened between us, and me taking her bed.
I yawned and stretched my wings and arms. Then, I looked at the clock. 8:41.
I layed my head back on my pillow and turned my head toward Violet. Her body was turned away from me, a big red spot staining the snow white blanket she had on her body.
I slowly blinked, not fully registering what was going on. Hesitantly, I edged out of bed and approached Violet's still body.
"Violet?" I peeped. I gently shook her shoulder, hoping she'd look at me with her wide eyes and cast me a bright smile. Instead, Violet flopped over, revealing glassy, unseeing eyes and her mouth slightly agape. Her hair was matted and blood stained from the crimson liquid oozing from her body, just above her heart.
That's when I screamed.
