Amy ran. She ran until her lungs felt like they were on fire but still she had to keep going. If she stopped it was over. She never seen so many. Amy turned to look behind her while still running but nothing was there but She knew they were still following her. As Amy turned to look ahead of her, she was met by a strong hit to her body.Looking up through blurred vision, she realized she'd ran straight into a wooden fence.'How could I be so dumb?' She asked herself. She was unable to get up from the immense amount of pain in her head and her body was completely void of energy. Amy laid her head back down in the grass and tried to accept the fact she was done for. That was until she heard the sound of what seemed to be the fence door opening. Amy heard the sound of a gun cock and with every ounce of strength she had left in her muttered out "survivor". Then everything went black. She came in and out of consciousness after that. First she heard two men talking but she couldn't focus on the words, just how the  voices sounded and then she opened her eyes for only long enough to realize she was being carried. She could only take notice of the curly brown hair on this person before she blacked out again. When Amy finally woke up she was on an old bed in what appeared to be in some sort of old hospital. She raised her arm to block the light from her eyes which were still blurry. As Amy tried to sit up a hand was placed on her shoulder.

"Careful that was some fall you took," said a voice with an Irish accent.
Amy looked in the direction of the voice, letting her eyes adjust. She was greeted by a seemingly friendly face of a boy with light green hair.He looked young, maybe mid twenties, He had a small scruffy goty and blueish green eyes. Amy shook his hand off her shoulder.

"Where am I?" Amy asked, looking around.

"You're in our base, it's a hospital right outside of LA," the boy responded.

"How far am I from where you found me?" Amy asked in a hurry to get back.

"About a mile out but..." Amy sat up on the side of the bed.

"Wait," the boy said "what are you doing? You need to rest."

"No what I need is to -" she was interrupted by the sound of sirens.

"What is that?" Amy asked yelling over the sirens but then,as quickly as they started, they stopped.

"That was a warning; it means there are dead outside the gate" The boy answered.

"Don't you know that the siren is going to bring more of them?" Amy exclaimed, knowing
that her life may be in danger once again.

"The sirens can only be heard in here. It's ok we have everything under control," the boy replied.

"Well I'm not waiting to find out," Amy said, pushing herself off the bed. She saw her
backpack sitting on the chair next to her and threw it on. Before the boy could reply the door swung open. Three other guys ran in, slamming the door behind them, and panting like they had just ran for miles.

"What's wrong?" the green-haired boy asked the ones who just entered.

"Dead ones," one replied heavily. "They're everywhere."
One of the guys pushed a desk up against the door.

"Tyler, why are you barricading the door? We need to get out of here?" the green-haired boy yelled to the boy blocking the door. Amy recognized the other boy's face, more specifically his hair; he was the boy who carried her here.

"Jack," a  red-haired guy said, taking a deep pause, "There is no getting out. The biters are already in the building; it's just a matter of time before they get up here and break the door down... we're all already dead." Jack fell back into his chair, slumping down as if he had already given up. There was a long silence in the room. Everyone was staring off into space. That is everyone except Amy, who was just looking at all of their faces, surprised by how quickly they had given up. Until she finally broke the silence.
