Getting to know each other- back in the car

"So, Dan and Phil, right?" Mark asked trying to start a conversation and the boys nodded.

"Well I don't know if Amy told you about us but I'm Mark, that's Tyler, this is Ethan and the one up front is Jack."

"Nice to meet you guy! Thanks for bringing Amy back and helping to save us. " Phil said with a big smile.

"No problem! I'm glad we did if she wasn't with us we'd probably all be dead right now." There was an awkward silence between the boys and Dan desperately wanted to get rid of it. So he was really grateful when Tyler said "So...How did all you meet?"

"Well that's kind of a long story," Phil laughed.

"Something tells me we got some time to kill" Tyler said.
Phil looked at Dan who just shrugged.

"Yeah I guess we do," Phil said. "Well Dan and I have been together since the beginning. Our parents were friends and we were on vacation together in Florida, when we saw the announcement on the tv. I remember thinking that there was no way it could be real.Then everything happened so fast. We ended up in the woods in an rv and it seemed like it was going to work for a while, but then one night some walkers invaded our camp while we were having dinner. It was the closest we've ever been to them. One of them snuck up behind Dan's mom and...well you know. We ran back to the rv but before we could get there one of them got my brother and I ran back for him, but it was too late. I watched as they tore his apart. I was so freaked out I froze. My Dad came and grabbed me and he basically had to pull me away from my brother. There were to many though.They were all around us but before they could close in he pushed me to Dan who was standing in the rv doorway. He caught me, pulled me inside and slammed the door shut. As Dan's dad started to drive everything settled in and we all broke down. It took a long time to stop blaming myself for my dad's death. But Any That was the start of it. We all move place to place and one after another we lost more of our family.Until it was just me and Dan left. " Phil said diving in deep to the memory. Playing every painful detail in his head and Dan could see it so he took over.

"It was hard at first, but with each others help we survived and moved on. We always thought it was best to be in a group, but we soon realize the bigger the group the more likely you are to be attacked. Phil and I lost many people to walkers and other bad people then we finally for this one group that was huge, Big enough to take on an attack. They took us in and at first it seemed like everything was good. They made it feel like they had built a functioning society. Then when we were comfortable they showed us what it was really like. The leader was a monster and the society was not as easy going as we thought. He made the people work all day with no breaks for little in return and all the good looking women were taken to be his wife and if anyone disagreed with him he would press a hot iron on their face and if it was a bad enough offence he would beat them to death with a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire in front of everyone And leaving was considered bad enough for one of those punishments. Depending on who you were, the more he trusted you the worst the punishment. Phil and I saw no way out so we did as we were told and kept our heads down, Luckily this made the leader not notice us."

"Plus we weren't in his main base so he didn't come around unless he needed to." Phil jumped in.

"Then one night while we were walking back to our room with our food, I crashed into one of the guards and my food went all over him. He was not happy about it, so he threw me and Phil outside with the chained up walkers.If you can picture it there was a fence around the building with guards at the entrance and then chained up walkers all around the building so the would get anyone trying to sneak out, but anyways the walker had Phil and I against the fence in fear for most of the night. At the time we thought it was hell, but now we see it was the best thing that could've happened to us. We saw a shadowy figure approach the fence and cut a hole in it with pliers. That was when we met Amy. She pushed herself through the hole and then spotted was. She took out a revolver from her back pocket and threatened us with it probably thinking we were going to blow her cover. We told her we weren't going to yell, but she grabbed phil and held the gun to his head telling us to bring her to the weapons room. So we did as she said. While there we asked her what she was doing and she told us one of our guys ambushed her and took her sword and backpack so we helped her look. Phil found the sword and I found the backpack. Amy asked why we were helping her and we told her how much we hated this place. She told us she would help us get out. Amy was a lot more trusting back then. As we were walking down the halls two men spotted us, but before they could alert anyone Amy did this ninja move where she slid on her knees to dodge them trying to grab her and she cut both their legs with her sword. That's when Phil and I realized how much of a badass she was. We ran back to where Amy came from and Amy stopped telling us to keep going. So we got out and watched her from the other side of the fence. She let some of the walkers free and then ran back to us sealing up the hole in the fence with zip ties. We've been together ever since." Dan finish.
