"Yatty?"
A soft knock resonated on Yato's door. It was followed by a sweet yet concerned voice of a girl outside.
"Yatty, I have food,"
"Hey Lazybum, come eat. Open your door."
Another call and a few more knocks.
Yet Yato didn't answer.
He didn't even move an inch.
Sitting by the corner of the bed, the god of calamity remained still. His eyes fixed on a small thing, in a shape of what could be a house, placed carefully on the top of the table.
"H-hiyori..."
What have I done?
Im so sorry.
But this is for you.

"So? What happened?"
Daikoku asked Kofuku and Yukine, who just walked down the stairs.
"Yatty still wont eat... I wonder how he could survive a whole month!" Kofuku pouted, as she sat down and ate the soup Daikoku made.
Yukine scoffed, but he tried not to think about it. Because he knew he might lose control again, and he didn't want to blight Yato to death.
A part of him actually wanted to, but for Hiyori, he tried to hold back.
Daikoku placed a cup of hot soup in Yukine's table.
"Yukine... why is Yatty like that?"
Yukine clenched his fists. He knew what exactly happened a month ago. Yet he's still asking the same thing to himself.
Yukine and Yato never told the two. For an excuse of not seeing Hiyori, Yukine told them that she went to another country to visit a relative. But those about Hiyori's ties? Yukine thought it'll be better not to tell.
"T-thank you for everything Yato. For you too, Yukine. I wish we'd see each other again,"
"Even though I wont remember, I wish you'd still remember me and everything we did."
The events last month flashed back to Yukine's mind.
"I hearby sever ties!"
He needs to know.
He couldn't take it anymore, he isn't like Yato, he knew to himself that he needs to know why it happened.
He ran up the stairs.
He didn't care anymore.
He didn't care if Yato gets blighted, he didn't care if Yato doesn't want him to ask.
Yukine took the keys from Daikoku's bedroom, and ran to Yato's, forcibly opening the doors.
The sacred vessel stopped dead in his tracks.
The room looks as if no one went there. Nothing was out of place, it seems like nothing changed since last month.
The only thing that changed was the bed sheets. And the God of calamity seated on the corner of the bed.
"Y-yukine..."
Yato's voice was raspy, as if he wasn't been able to talk for a long time. His hair was messy, eyes were bloodshot, and his tracksuit still had dirt in it. He kept his head low, looking at something he had been holding.
However, this angered Yukine more. He clenched his fists, as the feelings he had been hiding exploded like a bomb.
"HOW COULD YOU ACT LIKE THIS?! HOW COULD YOU ACT LIKE YOU'RE THE ONE THAT WAS HURT THE MOST?!"
"YOU SAID YOU WANTED THIS! SHE BEGGED FOR YOU! BUT WHAT DID YOU DO?! YOU PUSHED HER AWAY!"
Yukine's words filled the whole room, his voice resonated through the walls. He clenched his fists tightly. Yato still had his head hung low. His face show no emotion.
"W-why...?"
Tears dripped down his cheeks, his voice was shaky, but he kept talking.
"WHY?! WHY DID YOU SEVER OUR TIES?! WHAT DID SHE EVER DO TO YO--"
"Nothing."
Yato suddenly spoke, his voice had a dark aura, which made Yukine stop.
He moved his left hand, making what he was holding visible.
His shrine.
The shrine Hiyori made.
"But what I did was for her."
"For her?! Yato! CUTTING TIES WITH HIYORI WAS NEVER GOOD FOR HER! DIDN'T YOU EVEN THINK OF WHAT SHE WILL FEEL?!"
"Yukine..."
"STOP REASONING YATO! TELL ME! TELL ME WHY YOU HAVE TO DO THAT! DID SHE DO SOMETHING WRONG?! DI--"
"SHE WILL DIE YUKINE!!!"
Yukine fell aback, his clenched fists were now open wide.
"She will die! If she spends more time with us, she will be more attached to the far shore! Her cord will fade away!"
Tears rolled down the God's eyes, falling to the shrine. The little droplets of water reflected the light from the window as it rolled down the little shrine's roof.
Yato cried his heart out.
For a whole month he had been trying to keep the pain inside, and he knew Yukine tried too.
He kept telling himself it was okay. He made himself believe he could still live his life without Hiyori, just like how Hiyori could with hers.
But he was wrong.
"Tenjin told me that he had been noticing that Hiyori gets tired a lot more faster than before. He studied this, and he found out that this had happened before."
"This was some kind of curse a powerful being could put on people like Hiyori, and only that being can take it back. Though this only happened once, centuries ago, so Tenjin cant think of something to stop this, and we also didn't know how Hiyori could get into this. The only thing he could think of was to cut our ties with Hiyori. So she wont separate her soul with her body anymore.."
"That's her wish after all.."
Yukine stood speechless, he couldn't believe that Hiyori could die because of them. He felt sorry, but he also felt anger and regret from being insensitive himself.
But he then remembered something that happened when they were severing the ties with Hiyori.
"But Yato... When we did it... I can't cut through. How could that happen?"
The God was silent for a while, but he looked down to the shrine and spoke.
"We still don't know. Tenjin said it was rare to have that kind of connection with the far shore..."
"You mean to say... We cant cut through because her connection with us is too... strong?"
Yato smiled, but it soon faded into his emotionless aura as fast as it changed again.
"I guess... But he said Hiyori will forget....
They always do."
