"Wakey wakey sleepy head." Someone shook my shoulder rousing me from my dream of success and fame. "Uh, why? it's a Saturday." I replied as I rolled over. "I know, but I thought you wanted to talk about your exciting trip to America?" I sat bolt upright and stared at my mum who was already dressed for work. "You mean I can go?" "Slow down there, we still have a lot to discuss, but me and dad are feeling very negotiable today." Leaping out of bed I pulled on some jeans and an old t-shirt from my floor and gingerly stepped across my floor to the door. "Well come on then, let's not let that mood go to waste."
I sat down in front of my dad as I poured my cereal. "So where do you want to start?" I started, "The amazing opportunities, the publicity, the school work," I mumbled at the end. "We really want you to go but we need to find out more details like how you'll be schooled. Also who is going to take you because your mum's just had a promotion and is very busy and you know I can't leave my students in the middle of a school year." I nearly jumped for joy, this was the best outcome I could have hoped for. "We just want to make sure it's the best thing for you." My mum added softly. "It's definitely the best thing for me!" I answered. "Well I'll get the details while I'm at work and then we'll sign the papers tonight if everything checks out, okay?" Dad assured. "Amazing, thank you thank you thank you!" I couldn't believe my luck, I was going to America.
After my parents had left I sat down to finish my homework. Whilst wondering what the equation for the speed of waves was I remembered about the letter creating a hole in my coat pocket. Thinking that physics could wait I climbed the stairs and sat down with the letter in my hand. I thought about burning it, but that seemed a little extreme. Instead I ripped it up into tiny pieces and shoved it to the bottom of my bin, no harm done if they never find out right? I turned round expecting my mum to come and tell me off, but she was at work, I was just being paranoid. I went back downstairs to resume my homework.
At ten o'clock I rang my parents to say I was going to bed and that I would see them in the morning, but it went to answer phone. This worried me as they were meant to be in the car on their way home so why would neither of them pick up. I texted them instead - u wouldn't pick up I'm going to bed so c u tomorrow- I went upstairs and got ready for bed. I lay in bed for ages, excited about my trip. Finally I drifted off.
