Chapter one. The beginning

I ran off the train stop to the little breakfast shop on the corner to find Kelly sitting in the patio section with untouched food and papers spread everywhere.

"Kelly." I said in a soft voice so I wouldn't scare her. She didn't here me so I repeated her name. Still no answer. I got up and grabbed a book out of my bag and slammed it on the table.

"What the hell?!" Kelly shouted. She looked up to see me in the seat across from her. "Jordan! Where have you been? You're late!" she said.

"The train was late. I had to run to get here on time." I replied with a smile. Just then the waitress came with my drink, she set in gently on the table in front of me.

Every morning we go to get coffee, for Kelly, and hot chocolate for me, before work. If you are wondering we are SHIELD agents and have a mission in an hour.

"We have to go or we'll be late!" complained Kelly when I started to read the book I slammed on the table earlier. "Ok ok ok! I'm going!" I replied while a smile played it's way to my face. She picked all of her stuff off the table and ran to her car. She has a standard issued car from SHIELD so she can get to the headquarters fast. I am always riding with her because I don't want a car.

We speed down the street so we wouldn't be late. Director Fury hates it when people don't show up for briefings on time. Kelly and I work with the avengers as backup incase anything goes wrong. Today Clint and Natasha have a mission and we are needed.

"What did you do last night?" Kelly asked trying to make conversation.

"I stayed home and watched SVU. How late did you stay at SHIELD last night?" I asked.

She blushed before she answered. She had one of the biggest crushes on Steve. Every time she trained with him she comes home late. "I stayed until 11:00." She said while her face was getting a deeper shade of red.

"Haha. You need sleep. You look so tired. How many cups of coffee have you had?" I asked when she glared at me for the question.

"Three."

We walked into the meeting room to find all the avengers but Tony in the room. We took our seats and waited for director Fury and Tony to come in. The table we were sitting at was round with ten seats around it. We sat and talked like a family. Me and Kelly sat in the middle of the seats with Steve, Natasha, Coulson and Bruce beside Kelly with Clint, Thor, Tonys chair and Director Fury beside me. Just as Fury was going to talk, Tony burst in. Kelly jumped when Fury yelled at Tony for being late.

"I had to make Pepper breakfast this morning. I was home late and she was mad at me." Tony said to Fury.

"Next time you need to be home on time so you can get to the meeting Mr. Stark." Fury yelled. "I need everyone who has a suit to suit up. We will brief you on the plane."

Kelly was handed her first suit and she almost squealed with joy. She ran to the bathroom with me and my suit hot on her trail. "Oh my god! I can't believe I got a real suit!" Kelly squeaked when we got to the bathroom.

I got my suit two months ago when I made a level 4 agent. My suit is simple and black the covers down to my hands and all the way down to my ankles. I have a thick blue belt around my waist. I have a gun holster that wraps around my thigh and a knife pocket on my other leg. My hair goes up in a pony tail as Kelly zips me into my suit. I pull my tall black combat boots on my feet and turn around to help Kelly into hers.

Kelly's suit looks a little like Steve's with the red white and blue but is less bright. Hers covers all skin on her arms and she has red boots up to her knees. She has the same weapons holders as me and her hair also goes up. When she looks in the mirror she gasps at the both of us.

We run out of the bathroom and back to the conference room. We found all the Avengers in their suits. When Kelly walks in I saw Steve's reaction. He looked like a puppy looking at a bone. Kelly ran over to Natasha and she smiled and complimented Kelly on her suit. Everyone in the room walked to the plane when a shot went off.
