Jeni closed the fridge after she put the remaining food back in it. She looked at evrything she prepared on the kitchen table.

“Salmon makis: okay. Cucumber and carrot makis: okay. Avocado makis: okay. Asparagus and avocado makis: okay. Salmon sushis: okay. Bluefin tuna sushis: okay. Sashimis: okay. Box of cherry tomatoes: okay. Four packs of beer: okay. Sake: okay.”

She smiled in satisfaction and wiped her hands on a tea towel and went to her bedroom to change her clothes. She opened her wardrobe and looked at the dresses she had. She chose a knee-length dress with long, puffed sleeves, with a square collar. It had pockets on the skirt, and it was tightened at the waist by a belt. The dress was red with white checkers. She picked it up and took a pair of red high heeled shoes, though she was going to stay inside. She went to the bathroom and took a quick shower and made her hair a bit wet. After that, she put on perfume and opened a drawer, in which she found pin curls. She rolled her hair and pinned it to her skull with the pins and waited for it to dry. Meanwhile, she went to the living room and switched on the TV. She took a look at the clock.

“I still have time, they're not coming before an hour!”

She smiled and watched the BBC. An episode of Doctor Who was broadcasting, and as she never watched the show, she comfortably sat on the couch, stretching her legs and crossing them on the table. From time to time, she checked if her hair was dry or not. When it finally was, she turned off the TV and walked back to the bathroom, removing the pin curls and admiring her hair having elegant curls. She grabbed her hairbrush and brushed the curls, before giving them a very beautiful form. As she liked the hairstyles of the 1950s, she decided to comb them like one of the actresses she preferred. She finally put on her dress and shoes and applied a tiny bit of makeup, mainly on her lips and eyes.

As she was checking if her outfit was good, the doorbell rang. She jumped and ran out of the bathroom, closing its door. She walked up to the entrance and looked at herself in the mirror.

“Don't worry, you're pretty, Jeni!” she whispered to herself, trying to summon her courage.

She put her hand on the doorknob and opened it. She immediately recognised Brian's curls and Roger's blond hair, hiding Freddie behind them. Before she could even say “hello”, they threw themselves in her arms and gave her a huge hug. She giggled and friendly rubbed the arms she could touch. After a while, they broke off the embrace, and Brian kissed her cheeks and forehead.

“You're beautiful, love!”

“You are too, Brimi!”

They smiled at each other and Roger hugged her briefly before kissing her cheek.

“Brimishoo's right, y'know! What a lovely lady!”

She laughed and tousled Roger's hair in a giggle. Then, she turned to Freddie and frowned. He looked very familiar, as if she had seen him before... But where, and when? Freddie was frowning too, playing with a lock of his long black hair. He smiled, revealing protruding teeth. Suddenly, it hit her like a car.

“You're the guy who showed me the way to the music shop in Notting Hill yesterday!”

“Indeed! I was wondering where I had seen you, you looked familiar.”

“You were with your girlfriend, right?”

“Yes, I was with my Mary!” he smiled, before stepping towards her and giving her a hug. “I'm Freddie, by the way.”

“I know that, don't worry!” she giggled. “I'm Jeni.”

“I know that, don't worry!”

They laughed and Jeni helped them removing their coats and scarves, before hanging them to the coat rack. She showed them the way to the living room, and they sat on the couch. Only her was still standing. She put her hands on her hips, looking at the band with a wide smile.
