Jeni planted her feet in the ground. She was facing a cute old house, made of red bricks, with a dark roof. She slipped a hand into her pocket and grabbed a piece of paper. She took a look at it; she made no mistake, it was Brian's house. She smiled as she saw figures moving behind the windows, and she recognised a mass of dark curls. Finally, it was Christmas Eve. She could not wait for this anymore! For the last ten days, she saw Brian almost everyday, sometimes with Roger and Freddie. One night, Brian took her to a concert in a small club. The band was not famous, it only was a local band, but they enjoyed it pretty much. She hoped something would happen between them this night, but nothing happened.

A few days before, Bonnie celebrated her twenty-third birthday at Rod's house. As Bonnie refused to throw a party, Jeni simply spent two hours talking with her on the telephone. Bonnie was having much fun with Rod, going to the cinema, going with him to the studio, and her nights and some days were full of lovemaking – Jeni felt embarrassed to hear that on the phone. At the end of their conversation, Jeni had the opportunity to chat with Rod for a minute; he was a really polite guy, who also had a great sense of humour. But even after two hours of chatting, she did not tell her friend about all the things she did with Brian, Roger and Freddie. She knew that if she did, Bonnie would get mad, although she was with Rod.

Jeni slowly walked up to the door of Brian's house. She shyly rang the bell and waited for a few seconds before someone opened it. When the wooden door moved out of its frame, a mass of curls immediately appeared. Brian smiled at her and they threw themselves in each other's arms. He gently squeezed her against his chest, burying his face in her hair.

“Oh, Jeni, I was so excited to see you again!”

“I was too, Bri dear!”

They giggled and he warmly kissed her cheek and forehead. He looked at all the things she was carrying with her.

“Did you bring your house along or what?”

“No” she chuckled, “I brought beer, marshmallows and presents!”

“You didn't have to!”

“But I did.”

He smiled and kissed the tip of her nose. He helped her with all the packets she was holding and stepped aside to let her in. She stepped inside and found herself face to face with Freddie. She smiled and wrapped her arms around his neck.

“Hello, Freddie! I'm so happy to see you!”

“Hi, darling! I am too! You're late!”

“I know, I'm sorry, I took too much time preparing for the party.”

Freddie chuckled and poked her nose. He helped her removing her coat; when Brian saw what she was wearing, his jaw dropped and he did not make a move. She looked stunning. She was wearing a long red dress, with a V-neck, and long large sleeves tickling her wrists. It was tightened at the waist by a belt. As for her hair, she had combed it into an elegant 1940s hairstyle.

Roger came in the entry, coming from the toilet, and he zipped up his jeans. He smiled at Jeni as soon as he saw her, and ran in her direction. She chuckled as he lifted her up from the ground, making her spin around him. When she landed back on Earth, Roger kissed her cheek.

“It was my dream to do that!” he chuckled. “How are you, princess?”

“Very well, thanks! You?”

“Too!”

He looked at Brian, who still had not moved. He walked up to him and shook a hand before his eyes. Brian did not react.

“Bri?”

He kept moving in front of Brian's eyes, trying to make him move or say something. As he did not, Roger giggled and started to dance in a silly way, before raising his middle finger to his friend.
