Bonnie slowly closed the door, pursing her lips as her eyes stared at Jeni and Brian's bodies holding each other. She looked daggers at her “friend”. Jeni perfectly knew she had a crush on Brian, why would she let him hug her?! Suddenly, after giving Jeni a few kisses on her cheek, Brian broke off their embrace and faced Bonnie.
“Hello Bonnie!”
“Hello.”
Brian smiled again at Jeni and noticed she was holding his scarf in her hand. He laughed, as it seemed like everytime they would meet, she would hold or wear his scarf.
“Again with my scarf! Even indoor! What's so special about this damn piece of wool?”
Jeni blushed and looked at her guest, a bit confused. All she wanted to answer was “because it belongs to you, and it smells like Heaven”, but she was certain that he would have a bad reaction to this. Instead, she tried to smile naturally.
“I don't know,” she replied, “I like it!”
Brian shrugged and kissed her forehead, making her happy inside and shy outside. Jeni removed his jacket and put it on the coat rack in the entrance, and as he was about to remove his shoes, she told him he did not need to. Jeni led him to the large red couch in the living room. The couch was facing a brand new TV set, that Bonnie's parents bought her when they travelled to France. On the left of the room, the windows offered a wonderful – irony, of course – of Euston Road. On the walls were pinned many old posters from French cafés, such as the Chat Noir. Jeni had let Bonnie decorate the living room in the style she wanted, and she promised she would not say a word about it. Jeni was a bit annoyed by this decoration at first, but she was used to it now, and did not even pay attention to it anymore. She wanted to decorate the whole house with rock'n'roll things, like band posters, or paintings. Unfortunately, the only rooms she was allowed to 'contaminate' were her own bedroom, the dining room and the toilet. How great.
Bonnie smiled at Brian, and with the sweetest voice she could speak with, she asked him:
“Would you like some tea, Brian?”
“I would love to, thank you very much.”
“What kind?”
“The one you prefer.”
Bonnie grinned and looked at Jeni.
“Will you have some, too?”
“Yeah.”
“What kind?”
“Same as Brian.”
She nodded and walked up to the kitchen. She stood on tiptoe to catch a teapot on a shelf and prepared the tea, humming Something by the Beatles. In the living room, Jeni was talking with Brian, and from time to time, they would laugh about something. Bonnie's fingers clenched around the teapot, and she pursed her lips so hard that it was painful. How dared she talk to Brian like that and hug him in front of her? She saw Brian first, he was hers! The only thing she wanted to do right now was to throw the hot teapot right in Jeni's face. But Brian was there, she had to refrain.
Bonnie appeared at the door, with three cups of tea on a tray, along with the teapot, and butter scones. Her eyes immediately spotted Brian's right arm around Jeni's shoulders, as both were smiling at each other. She placed the tray on the small table standing between the TV set and the couch. She pulled it, so it would be nearer to the couch, and grabbed the teapot before pouring what it contained in each cup. She handed a cup to Brian, and the other to Jeni, before sitting next to her.
“Thanks, this tea smells so good!” Brian smiled. “Oh, by the way, I can't stay for long, I have a band meeting, and as your flat was on my way, I decided to stop there to see you!”
