Matt's POV
"Hey Matt. Come on bro. At least eat something." Steve said, walking into the living room from the kitchen, with a bag of McDonalds he got earlier this afternoon. I slowly Turned my head to the wall clock, observing and listening to every tick of the hands and continued tapping my fingers on the coffee table.
How do they even expect me to react to all of this?
"Matt, this excess worrying is not going to lead us to anything. Please eat. You haven't eaten since this morning." Nash sighed, putting his hand on my shoulder which I quickly swatted away. And at moments like these when you want to break down and cry but still refuse any help that is offered. Amazing.
"We know this is hard for you. We totally understand it, but it isn't good for us either. We have to stay strong. Come on man, don't do this." Jack yawned, stealing a look to the same wall clock which read 11:30 am.
I sat on the couch silently with my arms crossed across my chest. How do they expect me to eat knowing that my sister is not in good hands right now? Somebody shove a whole "Shut the hell up you freaking imbeciles' into their dumb mouth.
"Matt-"
"No no no! Stop! I don't want to hear one more Word! How do you expect me to stay calm when Emily is in real danger right now!? Do you have a single idea about what they can do with her. About what they can say and tell her" My stomach dropped over this thought. No. She can't know, she can't know from the wrong people.
I moved my eyes back to the clock and then to the boys, who were standing with their heads down in disappointment and shame. "Its because of your irresponsibility that now she's with them. I thought that she is more safe here. How the heck did they even know she is here!? What were you even doing!? What is wrong with you!?" I stopped shouting as I realized what I was doing. My hands were having a strong grip on Steve's collars while the other guys were moving me away from him.
I slowly let down my arms and started panting heavily. Nash offered me a glass of water which I quickly gulped down in a minute. We sat there in silence. Me trying to normalize my breathing whereas the other guys were walking around yawning and their eyes drooping.
"I am sorry." I breathed out. "I didn't mean any of that. I am just- I am just" I closed my eyes and looked down, trying to get a hold of the right words "afraid."
"Matt. Listen. We are afraid too. But let's just hope for the better. Its all going to be okay." Steve said putting his hand on my shoulder and this time I didn't swat it away.
"How its all going to be okay? They told us to to meet in the park-"
"And they didn't"
"No no. What if they came when we left? We should have stayed longer. Why did we even come that early!" I yelled.
"Matt! We waited for like 10 hours." Steve shut me up "They were just playing with us. We were the stupid ones to even trust them. Did we actually think that they will give her up that easily? We know how they are. "
"Yes. He is right. We have to just wait I guess and hope for the better." Nash said but more like asked as if he himself was not sure of what was coming out of his mouth.
This was it. I couldn't take it anymore. All the scenarios about what maybe happening there have completely invaded my mind and I feel as if right now I have the power to beat up anyone. Anger. Fear. Regret. Everything is mixed.
"Hope for the better? Seriously? Couldn't you have come up with a dumber way to make me feel good? Its like saying that-" I was interrupted once again with a ringing noise. Everything in the room was silenced and all eyes were focused on one particular thing on the coffee table; my phone.
