Chapter 13

I don't know about clarity but the day defiantly brought another day of crushing heat. The humidity was so high it made a person not want to move. Just lay there and die. Maybe with any luck nobody will notice. Thinking back I could hardly remember what air conditioning felt like.

"Hey Steph Maggie is looking for you." Glen said as he hustled past my door.
Well so much for sleeping in and dreaming of air conditioned malls. Moaning as if that would somehow stop the morning from starting I got out of bed.

I was just leaving my room and Maggie was already standing at the top of the stairs.

"Look Maggie I don't want to get into it already. I got your point yesterday." I said holding up my hand. "If you want to talk about anything else then fine."

As others were coming out of their rooms I knew she would drop the point. With a knowing look she waited until I caught up to her and we descended the metal stairs together.

Everyone was starting to split into work details and it just so happen I was with Daryl and Tyres on hunting. This was a good start I would actually be away from the compound for the day. Away from prying opinionated eyes.

From the look on Ricks face as he fed Judith he wasn't happy but said nothing. I was just finishing up loading Daryl saddle bags and the back of the truck When I felt someone walk up and stand close behind me. I didn't need to look to know who it was. "Are we ok?" Ricks ruff voice rumbled in my ear.

As much as I wanted to stay. To just lean back into his arms and feel the heat of our bodies touch I stepped forward, "Of course we are. Why wouldn't we be?"

"I don't know it just seems like your avoiding me." Running his hand threw his hair he pushed his lips together in a sigh,"I was kind of hoping you would tell me."

"Nothing is up just making sure we have everything for the hunting run is all." Walking towards the truck Rick fallowed me step by step.

As we approached the truck Rick put his hand on my arm to stop me, "Explain this to me. One minute your in my arms and Im kissing you. The next your sitting at other table and doing your best to be where I'm not. How exactly do you expect me to read that?"

I wanted to say I'm sorry. Take me in your arms and kiss me until I can't breath. Take me to bed and claim me as yours. I wanted to tell Rick that I wanted him heart, mind, body and soul because he already had me that way. Fall for me because I've already fallen for you. All these things and more my heart ached to say. Only my pride stood in the way. If you didn't have pride now a days then what did you have. Looking at the ground I forced myself to say, " I don't know Rick read it anyway you want."

I walked away from him despite the fact everything told me to go running into his arms. I jumped in the truck beside Tyres and we started to fallowed Daryl out the gates . Just as we were about to go through the gates the door opened and Julian jumped in beside me. Looking at Tyres he said, "I have nothing to do today until Rick and them catch up to where I am. Thought I might as well come along and be useful.

Tyres looked at me confused but continued to drive out the gates all the same. As we drove down the road the further I got from Rick the more I longed for him. Screw the prying eyes I just wanted to be with him.

When we pulled over and Daryl saw our new travelling companion he gave me an odd look. "Julian I didn't know you were coming."

"Ya it was kind of a last minute decision." Julian said nonchalantly.

Julian's insistence was beginning to drive me crazy. I glared at him as I started to grab the stuff out of the back of the truck. "I only packed enough supplies for three people. I really wasn't expecting company."
