"Really?" I asked shocked, "Oh wow"
"Yeah" Aimee said laughing at me, "So are Maxi and Jesse, the interview is about the show."
"Awesome, wait does that mean if I get in, I'll be on tv?"
"Yeah, the camera's will be at the tryouts next week. I know!" Aimee exclaimed, "I'll take you to meet them now."
I grinned, secretly hoping if they liked me it may give me a better chance of getting on the team. "We could do that?"
"Sure, I need to pick up Alfie from Reidy at some point anyways, and to be honest I don't trust him with Alfie for too long, he might end up poisoned himself on stuff they've left lying around. They're not the tidiest of people." She turned to the woman at the till, "Cathy darling you don't think we could have those sandwiches to go do you? Oh and 5 filter coffees?"
The woman smiled, "Coming right up, anything for you dearie."
Aimee smiled and got up to pay for the coffees whilst I sat thinking about the lifeguards, Bacon in particular. He seemed different somehow to all the other guys I've dated, there was just something about him.
"Right" said Aimee, startling me out of my thoughts, "Lets be off, thank you again Cathy." She tilted her head towards the door and I hurried to open it for her because her hands were full of coffees and sandwiches. "Thanks hun," she said when I took the bag with the sandwiches in off her,
"No problem," I replied, already starting to tuck in to my sandwich, "So tell me about your fireman"
"My fireman?" Aimee asked, "What the hell are you on about?"
I frowned, "Your aunt said you had found yourself a nice fireman down here?"
"A fireman? She never listens, no I have Michael, you'll meet him soon, he's a lifeguard"
The midday sun was getting warmer and warmer, and more people kept flocking to the beach.
"We can't stay for long," Aimee explained, "they're gonna be swamped in there, there are bluebottles in the water, why people can't read the signs I will never know."
By the time I had finished my sandwich we were approaching the tower, I could see people lined up along the outside of the tower grimacing in pain from the bluebottle stings, ages ranging from around 5 to 70. I chuckled to myself, I guess whatever beach your on, nobody reads the signs.
We reached the tower door and Aimee opened it, peeping her head inside to make sure there were no camera men around. Suddenly there was a roar from inside and Aimee squeaked as she got pulled inside. I stood wondering what to do when the door opened and a man peeped out.
"Tessa?" He whispered to me. I nodded and he beckoned me inside closing the door after me and going out onto the balcony followed by a small girl crying in pain. Aimee was being held about a foot of the ground by a gingery haired boy who was laughing, "Harrison put me down!" She cried, trying to sound stern and not laugh, "What are you doing?"
The man dumped her on a seat next to an older blond haired lifeguard and grinned, "Reidy told me that if you turned up before he was back with Alf, I had to distract you from noticing he was gone." He clapped his hand over his mouth after he realised what he had unintentionally said, "I mean" he faltered, "I'm happy to see you" he smiled hopefully, but Aimee just rolled her eyes. I laughed and Harrison's eyes were drawn to me.
"Harrison this is Tessa, she's going to lifeguard tryouts next week, I thought I'd just bring her by and introduce you all" Aimee explained.
Harrison grinned, "Nice to meet ya Tessa, it'll be good to have another girl on the team." He turned towards the window and began to watch the water.
