Chapter Six

Maria watched with a stunned expression along with the many others of those in the group while watching Annabel and Cameron dance, it was much like before, only this time they were dancing until one or the other gave up or collapsed.

“What in the world is going on here?” Sophia demanded when she saw people gawking, Maria was the one to answer.

“Anna and Camron are competing against each other in dance again.”

“So? They did that yesterday, why is it such a big deal?”

“Because they have been dancing for over the past two hours…”

Sophia stared at the girl. “What did you say?”

Maria didn’t look at the woman; she couldn’t pull her eyes off of the two that continued to dance together. “It’s like I said, they have been dancing to fast paced music for over two whole hours now and they don’t look like they are going to stop any time soon. Unless Teacher demands them too, but I think he’s still stunned by it.”

“So this is just one of Annabel’s dumb dancing competitions then,” Sophia scoffed. “How juvenile that is.”

“Camron was the one who proposed the idea, to keep dancing until you finally drop from physical exhaustion.” Maria never thought Anna would agree to such an outrageous thing, but ever since she returned all she ever thought of was dancing, dancing, dancing. Nothing else would preoccupy her mind anymore, unless they were brief thoughts of Andria, then her whole demeanor would change. Annabel would seem a lot sadder and would not speak much, like there was a heavy weight on her heart.

It was right around then when Maxwell clapped his hands together and spoke aloud. “Alright you two that is enough it’s not dancing until one of you or both keel over and dies. Save that for when we are done with the final performance. I don’t want to lose any more of my dancers are we clear?”

They stopped, Camron resting his now sweaty hands on his hips, his red shirt drenched from preparation as his hair clung to the nape of his neck, yet even while breathing hard he was smiling. “Well you went longer than I ever expected you too.”

“I would have continued if Maxwell didn’t tell us to stop.” Annabel said in panting breaths while she was also covered in sweat. “But it’s been a very long time since I’ve done something like that for so long. It was… nice.”

“Nothing better for my partner.” He chuckled.

“Camron, Anna, go and get cleaned up, when you are both back I will have an announcement for everyone so try to be quick about it.” Maxwell then looked to Annabel with a wary smile. “And Anna, don’t push yourself too much, I just got you back, I don’t want one of my star dancers to be out of the game just yet.”

Anna took a towel from her bag and patted her face and neck. “I hadn’t planned on it, but Teacher, mind if I use the showers to clean up after this meeting of yours?”

He nodded. “Of course you can, you can as well Camron.”

Camron simply waved a dismissive hand. “Nah, I good thanks, besides even after this meet thing I’m going right back to practicing. There are still a few things I feel I need to get.”
