If You Were Gone

A drop of bleach touches your tongue
I wonder why you left so young.
You had a life ahead,
Not cut short by a deathbed,
And it is all gone.
I'll be meeting you in not so long.

Tragic events happen, though
They never hit so close to home.
Fear is a common emotion
As well as depression and lack of motivation
And then nothing. Nothing at all.
A void of darkness and a place to fall.

I know it's hard- god I know,
But there are ways around this. You didn't have to go.
I'll protect you when I can
And offer you my hand
I can pull you out of here with help
From others. You can become yourself.
