Chapter 5

Silverkit woke up to Whitefly's paw jabbing her side. "Silverkit, cmon! The dawn patrol is about to leave!" Mouse dung! I forgot about Bluepool! Silverkit got up and padded over to the medicine cat den. Bluepool was at the entrance waiting for her. "I would think you would forget. But I was wrong." Bluepool said happily. "Bluepool, StarClan spoke to me last night. He told me that I could tell you. He also said he would come to you tonight. He said that my destiny was to become a medicine cat." Silverkit said. "Wait. Who spoke to you?" Bluepool asked. "My brother, Charlie." Silverkit replied sadly. "How did he die?" Bluepool asked. "He died along with my mom. Something went wrong and she died. My brother was attacked by a badger trying to attack me. I didn't know him back then though." Silverkit said starting to cry. Silverkit walked to the back of the den and asked, "What herb-" sniffle"-is this?" Silverkit asked about the star shaped flower. "That's Tansy. Its used on coughs and wounds." Bluepool said. As Silverkit went into the store, she looked at her starry brother. "Tell Bluepool I said she needs a nap." Charlie said. "OK, Charlie." Silverkit meowed. "Bluepool! Charlie said that you need a nap!" Silverkit yowled. "Are you making this up?" Bluepool asked suspiciously. "No, He's right there!" Silverkit said defensively. She turned to face him. "See?" Bluepool looked in shock. Can she see him? Silverkit thought. Yes, she can see me. She can see me just like she can see you. Said a voice that sounded like Charlie's. "Uh.... OK. I'll go take the nap now." Bluepool said as she padded over to her nest and went to sleep. "I'd better get in there!" Charlie said as he padded up to her. He faded away like the stars at dawn. "Well, I'm left with nothing. I should go get food. I didn't have any yesterday." Silverkit said as she padded over to the fresh-kill pile. She took out a nice fat vole and took a bie . "Hey Silverkit! Can we share?" Oakpaw asked. "Sure!" Silverkit replied. "How much longer til this moon is over?" He asked. "Two more days. That's when I become an apprentice." Silverkit told Oakpaw. "Listen, Silverkit, I have feelings for you. I don't want you to become a medicine cat because then we can't be mates and have kits. I want that. Don't you?" Oakfur asked. Remember your destiny, but you have a sister and two friends who are willing to help you out. Or you can chose to leave and not come back until your kits are ready. Charlie said to Silverkit. "Oakpaw, I do want that and we will have that. But I want to remain a medicine cat. I'll talk to you later about this." Silverkit said as she padded over to the medicine cat den. She soon realized that Bluepool was listening in on their conversion. "Why were you ease dropping?" Silverkit asked Bluepool. "Uh... Because you can't be mates with oakpaw. Its against the medicine cat code. But if your brother says its OK, then its OK."
