A couple weeks later, another meeting was held. This time, on a much more serious matter. A matter that Mal was not happy about at all. She walked into the meeting room, just as it was about to start.

"Queen Mal, we are glad that you can make it" Princess Tiana bowed. "What is this about?" Mal asked. "I think it is better if you sit for this." Tiana told her.

"We-the council has decided on something that should ensure the future of Auradon" they all look at Mal with worried looks on their faces, to which Mal met with quizzical ones. "And what would that be exactly?" She asked.

Nobody wanted to continue, so Belle and Adam took over.
"Well, Mal. You see, as of right now, there is no king leading this kingdom, only a queen" Belle pauses to look at Mal.
"And where exactly are you going with this? Are you saying I'm not ruling this kingdom good enough? That I need another person to help me?!"

"No Mal, that is not what we are saying at all. What we are trying to say, is that if there is no king, there is no heir. And in order to continue our Beast lineage, and heir must be secured"

Everyone, including Mal, was silent for a moment, until Adam continued with the rest.
"Mal, we think that you can handle this, and this is what's good for the kingdom" without giving Mal a chance to speak, he continued. "We've already chosen who the next king shall be" Mal looked up at him with sad eyes, but asked "who is it?" To which Beast replied

"My brother* has a son who's a little bit older than you, but should fit the criteria of what we are looking for. He is here to join his for dinner later this evening. I would like to think of it as a great opportunity to get to know him before your set marriage date"

"WHAT?! I'm sorry, "marriage date"?!? I haven't even met this man and you already arranged a marriage?!"

"Mal calm down, this is what's best for the kingdom. I mean, if anything happened to you, at the very least there would be an heir to take over your place" Mal thought about it for a moment, then quietly asked,

"When is it?"
Belle hesitated to respond, but did so anyways.

"At the end of this month"

Nobody talked for a couple minutes, until Mal suddenly got up from her seat and stormed out of the room.

Soon it was nearly time for dinner between Mal and the Beast's nephew. He had already arrived and was waiting at the table for Mal, who soon walked in a couple minutes later. Mal was wearing a simple, yet elegant dress that was purple, minimal makeup, and her hair in a low bun.

She surveyed the Beast's nephew as she sat down, waiting for Mrs. Potts to serve their meal.

He was a decent looking guy, with black hair grayish-blue eyes, and a beard and moustache tainted with a little gray. As soon as she walked in, he stood up from his chair and looked at her.

"Wow, you look gorgeous" he said, and all Mal could do was give a small smile and a thanks. They sat patiently waiting for their food, when he introduced himself.

"I'm, uh, Richard" he said as he extended his hand towards her, which she shook hesitantly. "Mal" she said to him. As soon as she spoke, their dinner had arrived.

About 20 minutes in, when they were finished eating, he started to speak.
"So I know we haven't really known each other very long but if we are getting married at the end of the month, the least you can do is actually talk to me"
She looked at him like he was joking, but of course he wasn't.
"Sorry, my mind has just been really occupied lately" "I have a way that we can relieve some of that stress" she quickly looked up at him with a shocked look, only to meet his smirking face that she badly wanted to slap off. Instead, she remained her posture and walked out of the room.

I can't marry him. I can't marry anybody else..

A/N: So I know I said I was going to post more during spring break but that is now over with so sorry about that. Just a heads up, I will be a little more busy as I just had two auditions today for choir and orchestra, both which I think I did pretty good on. Then I have two tests tomorrow, one math and one science. Then starting next week is state testing, and then the week after is finals, so my schedule is getting really hectic around this time of year, but I will try to find ways to update this book. This probably isn't my best chapter, actually, I know it's not, but I really cannot think of anither way to transition the storyline. It's not that I have writer's block but I'm just having a bit of a hard time. Please let me know if you guys are actually enjoying this story in the comments cause there's really no point in doing this if you guys don't. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have the next chapter be really short, but only because it's going to be a filler for what happens in the next upcoming chapters.
