Chapter 7- What the hair

Varian pulled up a chair for rapunzel and for himself. Sitting down, they wrapped rapunzel's hair around varian's head. She then began singing her song, "flower gleam and glow...let your power shine...make the clock reverse..bring back what once was mine...what once was mine..." varian stared at her, uncertain that it actually worked. Rapunzel perked up, "better?" Varian pulled the hair down and then moved his glove over his head before pulling it in front it his face, "oh yea- no!" Rapunzel pouted in confusion, "I don't understand...that always worked.." Varian scratched his chin, "Well, silver lining. We've acquired some critical data about your hair. It no longer posses its legendary healing powers." Varian then scooped nup a bunch of hair and grinned at Cassandra, "progress!" He dropped the hair and walked to the object he'd covered and hid from you, "now let's figure out exactly what this hair is made of." He pulled the cloth off of it and revealed a machine. It had a table for a person to sit in along with other weird contraptions. (Y/n) stared in awe. It was unlike anything she's ever seen! He noticed her amazement and grinned, "This machine can analyze any substance for chemical makeup, bitopic composition, and urgu-structural integrity." He hit the table up so it stood vertical, "I built it myself" he puffed his chest out in proud and smiled. Rapunzel stared in awe, "nice!" He patted what looked like a control pad, "If I'm right, this will tell us all we need to know about your hair." His vice grew quiet before he perked back up. Cassandra looked uncertain to the side, "Raps, Are you sure you wanna- Rapunzel?" She turned back to the machine in confusion to see she was in the machine, hooked up and ready. Rapunzel grinned mischievously, "let's do this." Varian then chuckled and (y/n) noticed he was keeping something from rapunzel, "okay...rapunzel. Now um, this may get a little-" rapunzel burst out, "exciting!" Varian scratched his neck before pulling down two levers to start the machine, "um..yeah sure..that's a good word for it." The machine then began to twist and turn rapunzel everywhere around. (Y/n) stared and understood why varian would keep this from her. This thing might kill the princess! She scratched her fingers against her chair as she watched. Suddenly the machine stopped. A bell ringed, "and there were are, done!" Rapunzel caught her breath, "all right, not super fun, but it's over." Varian then laughed nervously, "ha! Oh sorry, yeah I meant done with the first test, but don't worry only 86 more tests to go!" He pushed the lever up and the machine began running again. A saw was pushed down on her hair, which deflected it and threw it across the lab. It almost hit varian, which made (y/n) stop breathing for a split second. He ducked, then bounced in excitement, "Amazing! You were right, it's absolutely unbreakable!" Suddenly, the door slammed open and a young man stances at the entrance, "but I'm betting you're not! Let her go!" Cassandra's eyes widened and she turned to rapunzel. (Y/n) could tell she was reminding her of something by the look on her eye. Rapunzel laughed, "Eugene...Hey..." Eugene sighed relieved, "blondie, you're okay? You wanna tell me what's goin' on here?" Eugene then scowled and crossed his arms, "You know what, I don't care. I'm getting you out of there." As he walked over, Varian squeaked and jumped up and ndown like a mouse, "hey, you're Flynn Rider!" Eugene folded his arms and stuck his nose in the air, "No, you don't know what you're talking about. I've never seen you before in my life. YOU can't prove anything." Varian then got over excited and laughed nervously, "I'm your biggest fan!" He pulled a rope, revealing a shrine full of Flynnigan Rider related things, "see?" Varian smiled as his eyes darted back and forth. (Y/n) chuckled. He was so adorable when he got excited. Eugene
blinked in surprise. He then grinned, attempting to play dumb, "Hey now! Flynn Ryder, nice to be met." Varian squeaked and jumped up and down like a puppy, "I used to see your wanted posters all the time, you're my hero!" Eugene rolled his eyes and puffed out his chest, "well, hero is a bit much." Varian ran over to his shrine set up and grabbed all the books, bringing them over to Eugene before they toppled to the ground, "I've read every single book about you!" Eugene picked up one of the books, "ah well you see that's not actually me, I just took the name from the book." Varian ignored what he said and was now holding a sword with what looked like glowing hoops, "hey, hey! Remember that time you dueled that evil knight, blindfolded?" He then chopped a book in half and began swinging everywhere. Eugene shrieked and pointed at varian, "can you put that down? And would someone please explain to me who this child is?" Varian then shrugged his shoulders as slung his sword, "I'm Varian!" His sword suddenly broke a chemical on the shelf next to him, causing a minor explosion and breaking the shelf. Varian shrieked as the heat of the sword and threw it, landing right on the s Flynn Rider poster he had, destroying it. Eugene groaned, "aw, come on!" Suddenly, the ground shook violently, worrying everyone. Eugene turns to varian, "what was that trembling?" Varian nervously puts down his sword and scratches his head, "trembling? What trembling? Oh!" Varian winked and began walking towards the door, "Flynn Rider, wanna come with?" Flynn tapped his chin, "ohhh, no." Varian looked back sadly before brightening his gaze, "hey! If you come, I can show you something really special! But you've GOT to keep it a secret!" Eugene grinned as something crossed his mind and he followed varian before turning to Cassandra and snickering, "Did you hear THAT everyone? Varitos...V-V..." Varian yelled back, "Varian!" Eugene then held his hand to his chest, "A complete stranger wants to tell ME a secret!" Eugene followed varian and as they walked out, Cassandra and rapunzel looked at each other confused. (Y/n) laughed and then followed the two out the door. She snuck up behind varian, grabbing onto his shoulders and tucking her face into his shoulder. He laughed nervously and then Eugene came up behind Varian, "okay kid listen I want you to tell me everything the princess told you!" Varian chuckled and then explained, "
Well, okay, first, she said, We're looking for Varian, and then I said, I am Varian! And then she said, "Uh, hi, sorry to bother you, sir, but I wanna ask you about my hair! Wait, oh I'm sorry, let me back up. I forgot to tell you about the raccoon trap. So there was-"
Eugene stared in confusion and then shook his head, "Yes, that's nice, but I need you to tell me all the important stuff she said." Varian turned back, looking serious this time, "Mr. Rider when the princess of Corona speaks to you, every word is important." Eugene groaned and followed as he led you and Eugene to a small shack. Inside, he had beakers, chemicals, and other items. He searched through the shelves, "I know it's somewhere in here Flynn." Eugene rolled his eyes, "Again, it's Eugene." (Y/n) nudged him, "lighten up!" He looked down and glared, "yeah, and who are you?" (Y/n) threw her hands in the air and yelled excited, "(Y/n)!" Eugene grinned and then, Varian shot up, throwing a blanket to the side, "here it is! And, once the tests are done, it'll print the results on parchment paper!" Eugene scowled, "That's muy interesante, but getting back to what the princes said-" Suddenly, another rumble erupted through ground. Eugene then crossed his arms impatiently, "why does that keep happening!" Varian grinned and opened a door under the ground, "Flynn Rider, I believe I promised you a secret." He lowered his hand in the direction of the door before they travelled down. (Y/n) grinned and whispered to varian, "he's gonna be surprised." Varian nodded and lit up a lantern, leading the way down the tunnel. Finally, they reached the tanks.
