Souls P.O.V

We had been on the plane for three hours, and we still had another three to go. Maka had fallen asleep reading a new book an hour ago. The plane flew through some turbulence and I grabbed Maka's hand instinctively and clenched. Probably a little too hard. Maka moved in her sleep. I was worried that she might have an incident on the plane, but she seemed to be doing alright. I realized I was still holding her hand. I placed it gingerly on the bar of her seat.

I looked out the window. I honestly hated any kind of transportation that wasn't my bike. I just felt like there was more of a chance we would die if I wasn't driving. Maka got her drivers license this year, and I still wouldn't let her drive us anywhere. I guess I've been driving for so long that I thought that Maka would never drive. It just doesn't seem like something she would do. I opened Maka's purse and took out my iPhone. The headphones were slightly uncomfortable in my ears, but I let them be. I put on the play-list "Best Songs" which were an arrangement of piano pieces. Some were calming and had a steady pace, others had no rhythm and no pace at all.

A song came up that reminded me of Maka. It wasn't necessarily slow and serene, but it wasn't maddening like the rest. It was a balance between the two. I slipped a headphone into her ear and she smiled in her sleep. I grinned, and the flight waitress or whoever she was gave me a disgusted look. I awkwardly looked away.

This happened every time I smiled. Everyone always hated my teeth. Well, except Maka. The first time she met me, she asked how I could have teeth like that. I had no idea, they weren't as sharp and pointy until I started eating the kishin souls. They were more normal. A lot of weapons just collect souls, I eat them. When I started thinking about it, it made sense. The souls probably had some side-effect that caused my teeth to looks so vicious, and animal like. Animal like. That's probably how everyone besides my few friends viewed me.

Oh well. I sighed.

Maka's P.O.V

You know that place were you're half asleep but your still awake?

Your basically hanging in the balance between the two. I knew automatically what was going on. When I open my eyes, I know I'm dreaming. Down below me are the all the kishin creatures Soul and I have defeated; including Asura. There is a rope around my mid-section, and it is slowly falling apart. I try to keep cool, but everytime I move it tears even more. I'm frantically looking for a way out. and spot a tunnel of light above me.

I grab the rope holding me above oblivion and I climb up. My arms are aching and I'm not even half-way there. I know if I stop now, I will die. I get closer to the top. I really have fallen down a rabbit hole. A hand appears, I take it, whoever they are they pull me out. I shoot up out of the ground. Still holding a strangers hand.

I am back in the piano room, where I originally met Soul and heard him play for the first time. I hear the last few measures of the song. He finishes and I applaud him. It wasn't his song though. It was a different one. He get's up and pulls me to my feet.

"...You like it?" He asked with a doubtful tone.

"Why wouldn't I?" It was beautiful.

"It reminds me of you." He says, and I smile. He goes back to the piano and slams his hands down on a lower octave. "And that's you when your pissed."

"Very funny, Mr. Eater," I shook my head and smiled.

"Would you be my partner?" I ask. "I know I probably am not the greatest but I want to get better. And I promise you that one day you'll be a Death Scythe."

"You promise?" he askes genuinely. I smile and nod.

"I guess I can, seeing as there's no one else."

I shook his hand. And he shook mine.

We were partners.

 Soul's P.O.V

"Hey, we're landing now." I shook Maka's shoulder. Her eyes poppped open, and she stretched.

"Thanks for waking me up." she said.

"Well I'm sure as hell not going to carry you off."

"Lazy." she said witha smile.

"Hot-head." I retorted.

We got off and were immediately greeted with frosty air. We were headed for Yellow Knife. A city in the Northwestern Territories. We stopped and picked up a meal at a chinese restaurant. Then we found a bus station and sat two very long hours waiting for our stop. Did I mention I'm incredibly impatient?

Maka says I get really annoying in the morning because I get so hungry.

"A guy's gotta eat."

"You can wait ten minutes." Is always what she says. Thank god she makes good food.
