jack's pov

i finished all my night classes and i'm headed back to the dorms. it's 11 pm and i'm exhausted as fuck.

once i've stepped inside, i immediately kick my shoes off and take off my pants.

ahhh, much better.

i grab a water bottle and head towards my room, only to have my chin smacked into a forehead. i scream and put my fists up in defense.

wait a minute.

"you scared me, damn!" i sigh as i put my hand on my heart. i totally forgot mia was living with me.

"ow." she says as she rubs her head.

"you have a big ass forehead." i say as i rub my jaw.

"or maybe you just have a big ass chin." she retorts.

"touché."

her hair is in a messy bun and she's wearing a big black hoodie. i guess she was getting ready for bed.

"can you like, move." she says as she pushes past me.

"not even a 'please'?" i scoff.

i intently watch her fix herself a snack. she throws away a napkin in the trash, which is overfilled.

"take out the trash." i demand.

"not even a 'please'?" she mimics me. "it's dark outside, i'm gonna get mugged. you go."

"what if i get mugged?"

she eats a grape, "then that would suck, i guess."

"let's go together, then." i say and she surprisingly agrees.

i tuck a nicely rolled blunt behind my ear and grab the trash bag.

i spark my blunt and inhale the thick smoke.

we walk around the pitch dark alley way behind the apartments, our faces are only lit by a few streetlights.

"so. who's your favorite artist?" i break the silence.

she laughs at my sudden question.

"i don't think you'd know who he is. his music is like, really underground." she answers.

"who? maybe i've heard of them."

"lil pump."

"ew what—"

"just kidding. probably frank ocean."

i laugh and offer my blunt to her, but she shakes her head.

"i don't smoke."

"that's cool. i respect sobriety." i say.

"oh don't worry, i'm literally an alcoholic." she laughs.
