I waited on the football field, patches of melting snow all around my feet, as I leaned on the post of the goal, thinking about the time Luke and I first met. How he didn't know my name, and how we wrote the twenty notes before that.
"Ginger?" I heard yelled from a few yards away.
Oh shit it's happening. I thought I'd prepared myself for this but obviously not.
Then I saw him. Everything began moving in slow motion as he jogged toward me. And I could proudly tell you he was hot.
He was wearing all black, skinny jeans and sweatshirt. His vans were navy blue. And the sleeves of his sweatshirt were rolled up so I could see his muscles.
I was too ugly for this hot damn.
"Ginger." he breathed out as he reached me.
"Luke." I laughed.
"So.. what's your name, ginger?" he asked, taking a piece of my limp red hair between his fingers, and flicking it upwards.
I smiled. "I'm Bella Lea." I answered, holding out my hand.
He shook it. "Luke Hemmings." he added, and dropped my pale hand, as it fell to my side.
It was a magical that day. That was the day it all changed, Luke Hemmings had altered my life and it was only a short month.
The clock on my phone read 2:55, and I became anxious.
"My Algebra II teacher let's me out late."
That was what he told me when we first started planning to meet. He came out at about 3:10 that day. So I had fifteen minutes to figure out what to say to him when he did arrive.
"Hey Luke I really like you and I was wondering if you wanted to be my boyfriend."
"So we kissed and I think we should date?"
"Hey Luke pls date me thanks."
"Oh okay um yeah let's date."
None of those ideas appealed to me, and as I saw Luke walking towards me I was caught in a daze. He was in all black again, not one hair out of place in his quiff, and the black lip ring pierced his lower lip. How badly I wanted to kiss him.
So I did.
It was soft and sweet then we both pulled away.
"This is really non-traditional but, would you like to be my boyfriend?"
