"Leave me alone, Alec" Maeve said, annoyed. For the past few months he had tried to lure her into his web, claiming she belonged there. That mother nature made them for eachother. And even though she would never admit it, she felt the same. She wanted nothing more than to give in to his little fairy-tales of love, romance and soulmates but she couldn't. Because Maeve knew better than to think that vampires where a creature of nature. They weren't. They were monsters against nature's laws. There was no possibility that Alec and Maeve where made for eachother, as mother nature would never decide such a thing where manipulating her would involve, simply to even meet let alone be with eachother.
"Why?" Alec asked, a playful smirk around his lips. He knew he was slowly cornering his little mouse and soon enough he would clasp his claws into her fragile little frame, for him to hold.
He knew he made her nervous, and she was fighting against the truth. They were soul mates, it had to be. It was the only explanation Alec had for why he was so attracted to this vampire girl.
"Because you are being annoying." Maeve said simply as she continued her way towards the library, to read more on the history of the world that included the stories about vampires. She had just finished reading about the golden age and continued onto the time when steam-engine was discovered and used in the many factory's.
"My apologies, Maeve. That was never my intent." Alec said as he apologised, looking down at his shoes in shame. Maeve sighed, she could never resist him or stay angry at this man whenever he looked like that. "It's alright. You are forgiven. Now if you'd excuse me." Maeve said as she grabbed a book from the shelf and started reading, making mental notes whenever an event with a vampire had been changed. Maeve would always keep the human history books next to the original history books next to eachother to compare. Even though she had never liked the Volturi she had to admit they had done a great job in protecting and covering the tracks of their kind. She slowly started to see that the Volturi was needed for their own protection. Especially these days where humans had weapons that could easily destroy their whole kind. She slowly started to feel proud to be a part of this powerful coven. She was helping her kind by protecting their secret. Sure, it might be harsh to punish any mistake by death, but it did make sure that many vampires all over the world would also keep their secret, no matter what. Only a fool would try and expose vampires to the humans. It would ensure complete destruction for possibly both races. Maybe even the planet earth would vanquish completely due a war between humans and vampires once the secret was out.
No, Maeve would not let that happen. Even though she might hate being a vampire, she had to protect both creatures. By protecting the vampires, she would also protect the humans and by protecting the humans she would protect mother earth. That way the earth and nature would continue to exist in a certain way.A small knock was heard on Maeve's door that evening. Maeve closed her book and opened it, only to reveal Alec with a beautiful white and red rose in his hand. "I hope you will accept this rose as my apology for my rude and inappropriate behaviour these past few months. I realise I was overwhelming you and that is the reason you push me away. Anyway. My appologies, Maeve." He said, holding out the rose for her to take. Maeve smiled gently and took the rose from his hand, her hand gently brushing against his, making sparks travel through both their arms. Maeve gasped softly and pulled her arm away quickly, looking down. If she still had blood in her veins she was sure all of that would have crawled up to her cheeks. "I am sorry. I will leave you alone from now on. Good night." Alec said as he slowly made his way towards his own room. No. Maeve knew he was serious. He would leave her alone for good if she wouldn't do anything. So she did the thing she had cursed herself and swore to never do. She ran up to him and kissed him. On his lips.
At first he didn't respond to her kiss, too shocked to even move. Maeve was losing confidence and started to pull away, but Alec needed more of her sweet kiss and wrapped his arms tightly around her waist, pulling her even closer to him and making sure escaping was impossible. Maeve felt the same sparks multiplying themselves and shooting all through her body while she wrapped her arms around his neck, giving in.
She simply gave in to her desire, to his love. Even though they were freaks of nature, so was their love. And that expressed itself in that one simple kiss.
