Years passed. As Maeve and Alec grew closer, and their relationship grew as proven by their marriage, yet Maeve still couldn't be fully happy. But it wasn't her life with the Volturi, it was more her life as a vampire. Her being a creature who no longer belonged to nature made her and her power weaken. No longer did she have the power to grow flowers and life. No. All she could do was destroy and kill. No one knew. She even kept a mask up towards Alec. Ofcourse he figured it out that she wasn't happy, but he didn't know what could help her and make her happy. However, they would soon find a solution for Maeve's unhappiness. But will it be satisfying for them both?

Maeve followed Jane, Demitri, Felix and Alec through a dark and deep forest. They hadn't come across any human and Maeve's throat was burning, but not bad enough for it to be a pain. The five vampires where send by Aro to check upon a family that had been troublesome in the past, but not enough to put an end to them. There was a vampire part of this coven that has been rumored to be able to change a vampire back into a human and continue their lives as if their change had never happened. Maeve wouldn't dare to get her hopes up but perhaps this vampire can help her become human once more, as that was her hearts true desire.

Once the five vampire's reached the small cabin where the coven of four vampires lived, it's residents where already waiting to greet them. Two men and two women. Two old and two young. All four mates. The old lady was the old man's mate, while the young lady was the young man's mate. It was noticable by the men's protective arm around their mate's waists. Maeve felt Alec's arm wrap itself around her waist, copying the protective posture the other two males from the other coven had taken.
Jane watched the scene for a short while before speaking up. "Goodday." she said politely. The older man spoke in the same polite way. "Jane. Felix, Demitry, Alec, Maeve. To what can we thank for your visit?" The man replied, bowing his head slightly for the powerful vampires infront of him. "Aro wanted to know how you and your coven was doing, since it has been quite quiet around you for over a decade." Jane replied. "We are doing just fine. Thank Aro for his concern." the man replied, his voice remaining polite. Jane nodded her head in agreement and turned her head towards the older woman. "I hope you do still remember the promise you made to Aro." she continued. The woman nodded her head in agreement. "I will only change a vampire back into a human if I am to kill them. Seeing at it is our law that no human knows of our existence." the woman said, but it sounded like she had repeated that sentence for many times over. Jane nodded her head. "Very well. I guess that is all. Untill next time." she said as she turned around and made her way back into the forest. All but Maeve followed closely behind. Maeve was thinking of a possibility on how she could persuede the woman to change her back into a human. Even if it was only for a short time.
Suddenly a sweet smell hit her nose, making her throat burn in frenzy as her ears caught the sound of atleast three heartbeats. "I guess we will have to share." Jane said as also her thirst got to her. The other vampires nodded their head and followed the scent. Maeve stopped Alec however and pulled him out of hearing reach for the others. Alec, seemingly confused, followed his mate. "What is it, my love?" he asked as he stroked her cheek in concern. "That woman's ability is much more powerfull than mine. She can actually give our lives back. Wouldn't that be amazing? We could run and become human again. Live a normal life. Maybe even have children!" Maeve said as hope build inside of her. Alec frowned. "I guess it would be, but it is impossible. It would be against the law. Plus, I can not abandon my sister nor Aro. He saved my life after all." Alec replied and Maeve felt her heart shatter with every word he spoke. "Now come on. Let's hunt and go home." he said as he grabbed Maeve's hand, gently pulling her along with him. Maeve however, pulled her hand back gently. "I need a minute. Please?" she begged him slightly. Alec sighed and gave in. Gently kissing her on her lips before pulling away and joining his fellow vampires in their hunt.
Maeve fell down to her knees, hugging herself. Ofcourse his loyalty towards the Volturi would be too great for him to just abandon them. However, Maeve was done with being unhappy. With or without Alec, she had made her decission, just as he had made his

Maeve returned to the cabin weeks later, without anyone knowing. She had left her necklace and cloak behind in Alec's and hers room, a small note with appologies within a pocket left for Alec to read.
Maeve gently knocked onto the door of the cabin and the older man opened it, nodding his head and opening the door further for her to walk in. "We have been expecting you. My wife has made her preperations already. She is in the basement. But hurry up, before your husband finds out." the man explained. Maeve was astonished but nodded her head and made her way into the basement, where indeed the older woman had prepared several things Maeve would need for her new human life. "Welcome child. Are you absolutely sure you want to become a human again? Once turned back, vampire venom will only kill you, but never change you again." the woman said. Maeve nodded her head. There was nothing more that she wanted than to become a human once more. "Very well. Now a fair warning, this will hurt as much as the change into a vampire, maybe even more as many organs you haven't used in centuries suddenly have to start working again." the older woman warned as she gestured for Maeve to lay down on a wooden table. "I am ready." she replied with confidence. The older woman nodded her hand and placed one hand ontop of Maeve's forehead and one on her chest, right above her heart. The woman took a deep breath and a burning pain filled Maeve as her voice screamed in pain.

Days went by, where Maeve was in complete pain. Her beautiful, melodic voice turned slightly raspy, her pale and flawless features slowly turned peachy and retrieved the many small birthmarks returned. But the most painfull thing had be the slow start of her heart. It was painfull as she filled her lungs with now needed air. Her breaths became raspy as her heartbeat slowly steadied.
She was in so much pain that she barely noticed her mate's worried face as he carried her back towards Volterra, into their room. In rage he had killed the coven of four. He was enraged that they would take his mate's and his forever away. He might have hope she could be changed again, but the woman had told him that was impossible right before he had ripped her head off of her body and burned it. So now he only had hope for her to live with him for the rest of her human life, but that hope was shattered too, as the plague, that hadn't hit her before she was changed but had still be linguering inside of her while she was frozen, was raging through her body and killing her off withing three days, leaving the male vampire devestated and completely heartbroken.
