Chapter 10:

"Angela you have to believe me."

She shook her head, her foot tapping the ground impatiently.

"Before I was just joking about the whole you and Johnson thing but what the hell. Are you actually sleeping with him?!"

"For the millionth time. No."

"It sure didn't look like it yesterday when you were on your knees behind his desk! And of all the things you two idiots could do! Why did you leave the door open if you were going to suck him off?"

I sighed pinching the bridge of my nose.

"How many times do I need to explain this to you. He wanted coffee and I was bringing it over and tripped. Coffee got on his pants and he was on the verge of kicking me. You walked in at the wrong time."

She shook her head and turned away from me.

"You do what you want Curr. But you better be careful. Plenty of people have tried to sleep their way to the top and always end up on their ass."

I shut down my computer and quickly started packing my things. Just two more days and it'll be Christmas which means only one more day of work and then I'm off until New Years. Well I would have been off until New Years. I nearly forgot about that meeting. I sighed slinging my bag over my shoulder. Why can't I catch a break?

"I never did ask you for a number or an email so we could stay in touch." I said.

"I never gave it to you."

My eyes shifted down my back tensing. Half amused eyes appeared in front of me.

"Relax Joseph. I was just poking fun."

He handed me a sleek phone and I entered my number and handed it back to him.

"And what would you prefer I call you? Joseph or Curr?"

"Joseph please!"

I don't how I'd feel having Edmund call me Curr. The thought seems strange...foreign. What if he were my boss instead. How would he look in a sleek business suit? Would his hair be slicked back or would he wear it loose like it is now? Would he belittle me like Johnson or would he treat me the same as he does now? My phone buzzed in my pocket and I pulled it out.

Now we can be better acquainted.

I saved his number and pocketed my phone.

"What are your plans for Christmas?" I asked.

"I will probably sleep in, read a book or two and cook dinner. Simple but satisfying. What about you?"

"I don't know yet. Probably watch movies and eat whatever I put together."

He nodded his eyes flickering to the window.

"A-are you excited for New Years?"

His gaze went back to mine.

"Not in particular. Are you?"

"Kind of. I have to work on New Years but it'll definitely be an experience. My boss is making me attend some fancy big wig meeting."

The corner of his eyes crinkled amusement flickering in them.

"Oh. I assume there will be drinking. Are you nervous about drinking with millionaires? I highly doubt they will be kind."

"Not nervous. But I'll probably find an excuse to disappear for the majority of the evening. Hopefully. But knowing my luck Johnson will force me to stay."
