Chapter 3

"Hey mom, I was just wondering if you can let me use the car" napatigil si Vienna sa paghihiwa ng carrots ng marinig niya ang kanyang anak na si Cyvin.

"Why? Where are you going?" Nakakunot noong tanong niya.

"I'm going to fetch Vincy. It's already 5 and she's not home yet. Her dismissal time is at 3 and yet she's not home." Tila inis na sabi ni Cyvin. Kita dito ang pag-aalala para sa kapatid. Vincy told her that she'll go home late because of the rehearsal for the Ms.Intrams kaya she's not worried. Nginitian niya ang anak niya na ikinakunot naman ng noo nito.

"Mom, why are you smiling? You're supposed to get mad because--"

"May rehearsal siya kaya kumalma ka nga. " putol niya sa anak.

"Masyado naman late ata yung rehearsal na yan mom. You know it's not safe for us to stay out for so long now. Kaya nga dad's in the Island diba?"
Napatigil naman siya sa sinabi ng anak. Totoo ang sinabi ng kanyang anak. For 16 years, there were no threats and chaos. Everything seems to be at peace pero last week lang, something happened.

Birthday ni Cyvin ang araw na iyon. There's a party to celebrate his 16th birthday. Many are invited including his friends. They were in the middle of having fun when the lights were suddenly out and when the lights were turned on, there was a huge cloth with writings on it, and it seems that blood is used as its ink.

'Digmaan'

Yan ang nakasulat sa cloth and there's a box, a gift box just below the cloth. Cyde ordered his men to open the box and all of them gasped and some even faint when they saw a head of a dog.

Vincy cried as she recognized the dog, it was her dog.

And so the party was over.

Upon realizing what had happened. Vienna called Vincy.

"Vincy!"
[Yes mom?]

Napatingin sya kay Cyvin who mouthed "loud speaker mom" kaya ginawa niya iyon

"Is the rehearsal not over yet?"
[Not yet mom, i think it will end at 6]
"C-can you not go home now?"
[I would love to but no mom, it's the first and last practice before the pageant 2 days from now so I can't. Ms. Entra--]
"Vincy. I'm going to fetch you now. You're going home." Cyvin interrupted
[Then you go speak to Ms.Entrada. I told her so many times that I want to go home and yet she won't let me]

Napatingin siya kay Cyvin at tinanguan ito,  wari'y sinasabing "sige na,  puntahan mo na yung kapatid mo" . Agad namang tumalima ito at kinuha ang susi ng kotse saka lumabas na ng bahay nila

Meanwhile...

"Did he just ended the call first?  Dang!  I hope he can convince Ms. Entrada though. " pabulong na sabi ni Vincy. She's exhausted. She really wants to go home but Ms. Entrada is a strict one,  ilang beses na siyang pinagtaasan ng kilay nito dahil sa pagtatanong niya kung pupwede na ba siyang umuwi dahil tapos na naman ang mga babae.  It's the boys' turn but according to her "You should also be concerned with your partners" . She rolled her eyes at the thought.  Ms. Entrada pabida, tss.

"Vincy, vincy spider went up the water sprout" napairap si Vincy at tinignan ng masama ang lalaking kumakanta nun. He is a guy years older than her, same age as his kuku Cyvin.

"Oops,  the spider got mad. Is she going to trap me by her web? " nakangising sabi  pa nito.

" You're not worth my web, Ramirez. " malamig na sabi niya dito.  Natawa naman ang lalaki at saka siya humakbang palapit sa kanya habang nakatitig sa mga mata niya na tila aliw na aliw siya.  Tinitigan niya din ito sa mata na parang handa niyang patayin ito pero di pa rin natitinag ang lalaki.

"You know what.." tumigil ito nang may halos kalahating metro ang layo sa kanya "You're really beautiful. I like you"

Sandaling natigilan si Vincy.

He likes me... Tss who cares?  He's not the only one who likes me and there are different kind of liking..

"Well,  I loathe you. " sagot ni Vincy nang nakataas ang isang kilay saka ito tumalikod at nilapitan ang partner niya na di na niya maalala ang pangalan.

"Hey, uhm classmate,  aren't you done yet? " tanong niya dito.  Nginitian naman siya nito na parang nahihiya saka napakamot sa batok.  He's cute, a good boy type,  and he's not her type.

"My name is Ashley Romualdez, in case you forgot.Which I assume that you did. " natatawang sabi nito. Napaiwas naman siya ng tingin.  She didn't know his name.. Or maybe he told her but she wasn't paying attention or she didn't care.  Isa lang naman ang kilala niya sa mga classmates niya eh,  her friend Linzy Dela Torre.

"Anyway,  we are not yet done. Ms. Entrada said that we still need to rehearse our walk for a few more rounds. " napalingon siya ulit dito nang magsalita ito. 

"Ms. Feronto, Mr. Romualdez,  come here,  we're about to rehearse the couple walk" parehas silang napatingin sa guro nang tawagin sila nito. 

Couple walk? Is there really such thing as couple walk in a pageant?  Geez.

"Tara na. " nakangiting sabi sa kanya ni Ashley at saka siya hinawakan na ikinagulat niya dahil di naman sila close pero hinayan na lang din niya kaya hawak kamay silang naglakad papunta sa back stage nang may biglang pumagitan sa kanilang dalawa ni Ashley at umakbay pa. 

By the scent of his perfume,  she knows who it is.

"What the heck are you doing, Ramirez? Get your filthy arms off us. " inis na sabi niya dito. Tinanggal nga nito ang pagkaakbay sa kanil pero binulungan niya muna ang si Ashley. Umalis naman agad ang lalaki. 

Sinamaan niya ng tingin si Ramirez bago naglakad pero agad siya nitong nahila at dahil malakas ang pagkahika nito sa kanya ay tumama siya sa dibdib nitong matigas.

"Don't talk to other boys. "  bulong nito sa kanya.  Umirap ang babae at saka niya tinulak ito.

"You don't have the right to tell me not to talk to them." inis na singhal niya dito.

"Vincy! " napalingon siya sa pinagmulan ng tinig na yun.  It's her Kuku Cyvin. She smiled widely and wave her hands.

Yes!  I can finally go home.

Tumakbo ito palapit sa kanya at bahagyang yinakap siya nito saka hinalikan sa noo.

"I'll speak with Ms. Entrada first and get you home ok? " mahinahong sabi ni Cyvin.  Tumango si Vincy at ngumiti. 

Napalingon naman si Cyvin sa lalaking nasa gilid.

"Hey,Ashton dude! " nakangiti niyang bati at saka sila nag-apir, naghandshake,  at fist bump,  basta kung ano-anong ginawa nila sa kamay nila.

"What are you doing here? " her brother asked.  Pestering me. She thought.  Ashton pointed her brother Zack Ramirez and so Cyving nodded, as if he understood what he was trying to say.

"Let's go, kuku. I'm tired. " ingit niya sa kapatid.  Natawa naman ito saka niya hinila si Vincy patungon kay Ms. Entrada.
