I speed down the road, a few more blocks until I reach the square.
This is the first time I ran to them, and not away from them.
My feet hammer on the ground and my breaths are fast. I swear under my breath, why do I need to run so fast? I feel my whole body compressing each time I hit the floor, the impact in each of my bones.
I skid around the corner and run face first into Pete. I scream as I push him over. We fly across the road and skid on the floor. I dont get hurt, as Im on top of him.
"Holy shit Lacey?" Andy asks.
"We were just gonna leave." Patrick adds.
I push myself off Petes chest, sitting next to him on the floor.
"Well... Urm. William had me and I escaped by giving him... This." I pull the bottle out of my pocket.
"You clever bastard." Pete grins.
"Tell us more when we get back." Patrick gives me a hand up.
We arrive back and I explain. My legs are tired and I kind of want to sleep.
"You know, that could kill him." Patrick says, flicking through his book.
"Good." Pete states.
"As in it could be over, the final fight. All by mistake. We could have won, even before it has begun."
"Do you guys want to go... Out? Its dark and so Pete can go. Its fun!" I suggest.
They all share looks.
"Im staying behind." Andy says.
"No youre not." Patrick corrects him.
Minutes later we are all sat on the hill in the dark park nearby. The sky is orange as the sun had just set. The lines from planes are like veins in the sky.
"You know, he didnt even force me to stay, he had no security!" I laugh.
"Wow thats lame!" Andy laughs.
"I literally walked out whilst he was in the toilet!"
"Such a looser!" Pete chuckles.
We all laugh at William. I take a metaphorical step back. I look at what we are doing. To onlookers we look like some young adults laughing on a hill, only worried about securing a job. But in reality we are so much more. We are more in depth than some 2D characters.
Patrick is a cute nerd that really likes hats and writing. Andy is a serious ninja that could beat you in a fight in under a minute, and still have his hair in tact. Pete is caring with a tough exterior, desperate to seek revenge but care for his friends at the same time.
And me? what about me?
I ask, "How you describe me?".
There are replies like "A saviour, supposedly, who is intelligent and keeps a good conversation." and "A charismatic trouble maker". But theres also the reply, "A beautiful girl that can kick ass and keeps going no matter what. She cares for her friends too, she helps them when they are in need.".
I smile and blush at the results. I have friends, this is what I am. I look down at my hands where I am pulling a flower apart, petal by petal.
"Im so glad you guys kidnapped me." I grin.
"Well, if you put it that way..." Patrick laughs.
"Its not really kidnap when I am choosing to stay."
We all have a good time before returning back. Im glad for friends, even ones that arent normal.
The biggest adventures are started from making the biggest mistakes.
