Evan awoke with a start, his heart was pounding against his chest like the sound of a drum and every inch of his body was covered in thick, sticky sweat. His clothes and hair were damp and he took in a gulp of air, it was like he had just learned to breathe for the first time. "Con-Connor? Connor." Evan pushed himself to his feet and staggered forward as he tried to feel his way through the darkness that was Connor's bedroom. He could make out a distinct mumble as he placed his hands on Connor's bed, feeling all around for any sign of life.

"What is it...?" Connor mumbled, stretching out his tired limbs.

"Oh. I thought- I- Oh, Connor!" Evan threw himself at Connor, tears streaming down his face. He was so glad it had all been a dream, even though it was sick and sadistic and struck his heart with large amounts of horror.

Connor sat up, holding Evan close to his chest, feeling the dampness of Evan's body. He was soaked with so much sweat that it was almost like he had gone for a swim in a pond. "Evan! What's wrong? Did something happen? Tell me everything!" Connor tightened his hold on him. Evan convulsed in Connor's arms as he let out deep, dry sobs. "Oh, Connor... It was- It was horrible! I had a dream- More like a nightmare. And, you died!" Evan pulled slightly away and looked Connor in the eyes.

"I died?" Connor's brows furrowed and he seemed almost worried. "You killed yourself..." Evan murmured, and his frown deepened. He had stopped sobbing, but tears continued to trickle down his face, mingling with his night terror sweat.

"Evan, I'm not going to kill myself." Connor suddenly got defensive. His body grew rigid. He hadn't really thought much about suicide since he had been with Evan, but he knew Evan was noticing how immensely worse he was getting with taking care of himself. He knew Evan could see the darkness begin to slowly creep in front of the light through Connor's eyes. Connor couldn't be getting worse. Could he? Only time would truly tell.

"You promise?" Evan let his hands linger on Connor's shoulder as he sat wedged in between Connor's legs.

"I promise." Connor said, following with a soft kiss upon Evan's nose. "I'd never intentionally hurt myself."

"I hope you're right. The dream... It felt- It felt so...real." Evan's voice seemed strained, almost as if he had to force himself to speak.

Connor rubbed Evan's back, then looked back at his alarm clock. 6:20 AM. They would have to start getting ready for school or they wouldn't be able to catch the bus. Connor had completely forgotten that they had school today. He'd have to give Evan some clothes to wear. "The bus will be here in 20 minutes... I'll get you some clothes to wear." Connor said as he approached the door of his closet and began to rummage around for some clothes he thought might fit Evan. He pulled out a pair of blue, skinny jeans and a dark, grey t-shirt with The Front Bottoms embroidered in calligraphy on the front. Evan gripped the clothes close to his chest and asked where the bathroom was, nervous about changing in front of Connor.

"Evan." Connor stifled a chuckle. "You can change in here. My parents will be up any minute, and they'll kill me if they find you here." He then turned around and began to pull off his own clothes, revealing his thin, lanky frame beneath the fabric. He yanked on a plain, white t-shirt and pulled on a pair of baggy jeans.

They both continued to get ready, then Connor opened up his bedroom window. "To keep us from getting caught." He nodded towards the window which stood ajar, wind swept in, pushing the curtains back. Evan didn't move or follow as Connor began to climb outside. Evan ran to the window as Connor let go of the ledge, worried he might be injured. To his relief, Connor stood pressed up against a tree, waiting patiently for Evan.

"Well... Okay." He grinned, then began to copy Connor's movements, careful not to fall and hurt himself.
