The day had finally come to a close and Connor and Evan were wrapping up their time together by giving each other a goodbye kiss. They'd never get sick of touching each other. Kissing, hand holding, cuddling, they were always looking for excuses to feel each other.

"Could we meet up at the same time tomorrow?" Connor implored.

Evan could never say no to him, so of course he agreed and then they parted ways, wishing they could forever be in each other's company. Evan decided to go the long way, not wanting to go home just yet. He took a little detour through the park and listened as the crickets chirped through the dark, fall night. Lightening bugs lit up all around and one happened to land on Evan's shoulder as he took a seat in one of the many swings filling up the park. He turned his head and watched as it, once again, made its ascent into the sky, looping around a tree branch. Evan took in a big gulp of fresh air and pretended Connor was here, sitting on the swing adjacent to him. "Evan, right?" Asked a deep, gruff voice. Evan shot up off of the swing and looked around, but he didn't see anyone near him.

"Over here, dude." The voice spoke again, but this time Evan was able to see who the voice belonged to. It was a boy of tall stature, he appeared to be about his age, maybe a few years older. He had dirty blond hair and was wearing all black, aside from a pair of red, scuffed up sneakers. He walked closer to Evan, wearing a mischievous smirk. "Connor's boyfriend, right?" He sneered.

"Uhm..." Evan didn't know what to say. Words had failed. "I..."

"What? Cat got your tongue? C'mon! Answer me." The blond boy's words were aggressive in tone, which caused Evan to flinch and throw his hands up to his face, protectively. It was obvious this boy was hostile and had no intention of being friendly towards Evan. "Aww. I'm not gonna hurt you... yet." The boy stepped closer.

That was when Evan grabbed a nearby tree branch and swung it as hard as he could at the boy, then he began to sprint towards his house. He ran and ran and ran until he tripped over the curb. He hit his jaw on the ground, causing his teeth to chomp down on his tongue. He could taste blood. He groaned and reached for his mouth, moaning with pain. "Wow. I didn't think you could run that fast." The boy made it to Evan and gripped him by the collar of his shirt. "I'm gonna enjoy this." He balled his hand up into a fist and began to coil his arm back, ready to punch Evan square in the jaw.

Blood was beginning to drip down Evan's chin and splash onto his striped shirt, staining it a crimson red. Evan closed his eyes, getting ready for the impact, but it never came... All he felt was the boy let go of his shirt and he heard a loud thud about two feet away from him. He slowly opened his eyes to see a tall figure standing over the blond boy that had attacked him. He didn't have to do any deducing to know exactly who had saved him. "Connor..." Evan lovingly sighed, even with his mouth full of blood. "You ever touch him again and you'll be sorry. You'll be very sorry!"

The boy hoisted himself up and began to run down the street, panting and trying not to scream out in pain.

"Oh, Evan." Connor pulled Evan up into his arms and began to coddle him as if he were a small child. Tears were stinging his eyes. "You're bleeding. I'm glad you fell in front of my house, otherwise I never would've heard the commotion." He gently caressed Evan's cheek and pressed his lips to his forehead. Connor was beyond angry and it took everything within him to not chase down the kid and make him pay for almost injuring his boyfriend. The thought of what could've become of Evan if he hadn't heard the scuffle from his bedroom window made him want to cry.

"Thank...you. I should've just gone home." Evan whimpered, running his fingers through Connor's long, thick hair. He imagined what Connor might look like with a man bun, but quickly pushed aside the thought as tears flowed down Connor's cheeks. Evan wiped the tears away. "Connor... Don't- Hey, don't cry. I'm okay, see?" Evan faked a smile, cupping Connor's face in his hands. He looked longingly into Connor's eyes.

Connor slightly grinned.

"Come inside?"
