Chapter 7: Heartbreak and Bribery

"Jeremy Haze Walter. Get down here now!" I heard my mom scream in anger.

I ran all the way downstairs, almost missing a step and tried saving myself before I cracked my skull open.

"What?" I asked, concerned.

"We just fucking talked less than an hour ago and you already did something I warned you not to fucking do!" She yelled.

"What did I do?" I asked, unsure and a bit scared from the way she was swearing and yelling.

"Stop acting dumb!" She hissed.

"I don't need to act dumb." I said to quickly.

"Wait! That didn't come out right." I muttered, realizing I called myself dumb.

"You really don't know what happened?" My mom asked, softly.

I shook my head a no.

She looked at me and scowled.

"Don't believe you for one second. You're the only one who has enough guts to make Lillian cry!" She hissed.

"What!?" I said, shocked.

"You heard right. I warned you not to mess with Lillian." She growled.

"Honestly. I didn't do anything." I said.

She eyed me suspiciously.

"Stare into my eyes and tell me you didn't do anything." She said, advancing me.

I looked into her eyes and saw sadness and anger.

"I promise mom! I didn't do anything." I replied. She looked at me and quickly backed away.

"Where is she?"

"Well she ran out the back door." She said.

"Did you run after her?" I asked.

"No." She muttered.

"Mom!"

"Well. I was too busy thinking that you did something asshole ish." She yelled.

"Wow!" I muttered.

"Well. What are you doing just standing here? Go look for her!"

I nodded my head and ran out the doors.

I stood outside wondering where she could've gone.

In the back of our little house there was a big pasture of land. Acres of land.

Might be unbelievable but my family and Lillian's family were the only who lived on this block.

Every time someone wanted to move in, their decisions would change only because of the land behind us.

It was rather cool living here. I liked it here. And my mom was a big nature person. So it was good.

I started walking out of my back yard and into the pasture.

My ears perked up when I heard whimpers.

I followed the noise until I was close enough to see who it was making the noise.
