You say in your tent, silently contemplating what you had learned. Just a few short hours ago, you had asked your best friend, Legolas, to braid your hair. At the time, you had no idea that according to Elven custom, you had asked to court him. And, as Aragorn was happy to tell you, his agreement meant...he accepted. It was a lot to take in all at once
"Melon..."
You turned around quickly, knowing that Legolas had re-entered the tent. This was going to be awkward....
"Legolas-"
"YN"
Both of you spoke at once, trying to explain yourself.
"You: "You go first."
Legolas: "No no, you may speak."
You paused awkwardly. You had no idea what you wanted to say to the elven prince.
"I...don't know what I was going to say."
"Oh...then I guess I will..."
Like you thought, this was going to be very awkward.
"When you asked me to braid your hair...I was so honored, and...Well, I guess I thought...."
The elven prince was fumbling with his words, trying to explain himself to you.
"Did you...think I knew?" You prompted him, speaking softly.
"I don't really know what I thought....maybe? Ai! I am so sorry YN! I should have told you before I went through with it! I am a fool!"
He lamented, sounding confused and desperate.
"Legolas..." you spoke, not entirely sure what you were doing. "I have a very important question. If I would have known, would you have accepted?"
"...yes."
"Then we are fine!"
Legolas stared at you, confused.
"Look...I asked. You accepted. Do we need any more?"
Legolas squirmed.
"B-but you didn't really ask... you asked for a braid...not a courtship."
You groaned. This elf was not getting it, was he?
"Fine."
You reached back, and untied the braid, which had been carefully crafted by your elven companion. Running your fingers through it, it fell back to a loose mane.
"Will. You. Braid. It?"
The elf's face lit up in understanding.
"I would be honored."
