As you sat in the little makeshift camp with the rest of the fellowship, you realized that there was a problem. You were bored out of your mind. So, you got up and walked over to Legolas. As you did this, the many different potions on your belt clinked. Some were just painkillers, but some were complex recipies that you did not really know what did.
"So, I have heard that elves are really good at climbing. Is that true?"
"Based on my experience yes. We are a much faster and nimble race than humans."
"Well, I think that we should test that. How about we race up that big oak outside the camp?"
The elf agreed, seeing as he knew that he would undoubtably win.
The two of you were always havinf these competitions. If for no other reason, it was a god way to pass the time.
As the two of you reached the oak, Legolas turned to you.
"Are you sure you want to do it? It looks pretty tall for you."
"No way am I backing out of this now!"
So both of you started scrambling up he tree. Legolas was correct and was quicky ascending the branches. Eventually, he reached as far as he could go before the branches grew too thin to hold him. Howver, when you caught up, you continued up the tree, not heeding his words that the limbs would snap.
You perched yourself on a thin branch, looking down at the elf.
"Why don't you come up and join me blondie?"
"YN! Get back down here! those limbs are too-"
He was cut off by the sound of a loud snap.
"YN!"
You fell, hitting your head on a branch. Luckily, Legolas was able to grab your arm as you fell, pulling you onto the sturdy branch beside him.
"owww..."
Legolas did not say anything until you got back on the ground.
"YN, what were you thinking? You could have fallen further and gotten yourself killed!"
"Meh. Nothing a healing potion cannot fix!"
You grabbed a potion off your belt, taking a long drink.
Assuming that it was alright now, the two of you started walking back to the camp. However, as you walked, you began to sway, becoming very dizzy.
"Legolas..." you slurred.
Then, you slumped against him, completely unconscious. If it were not for the faint rise and fall of your chest, you would be presumed dead..
"YN! YN wake up!"
When Legolas could not get any reaction from you, he picked up your still body, carrying it back to camp.
He could barely get in the campWhat happened?
Are you guys alright?
Is she alive?
Luckily, Gandalf was able to quiet the persistent hobbits.
Aragorn stepped forward, looking at you.
"What did she do now?"
Legolas explained everything from the climbing, to the fall, to the potion.
"Bring her here. I can assess the damage," Aragorn sighed.
He cleaned up the cut on your head, wrapping it tightly.
"It seems like whatever potion she used has fixed any concussion she may have had, but also made her go into this sleep."
Legolas turned to Gandalf, hoping he would know more about your potions.
"I have never nderstood hat she does with those potions. All I know is that they are very powerful."
Resigned, the fellowship sat around the campfire. Gandalf was sitting with his head lowered, feeling as if he had failed you. Boromir was unsure of everything going on. He may have thought you were a bit annoying, but he still thought you were good to have on the team. Gimli stood against a tree, nogt saying anything. The hobbits, insisting that just because you were asleep did not mean you could not be cold, wrapped your blankets around your still frame. Aragorn sat by the fire, but was really watching Legolas, who was sitting further from the group. He was supposedly on lookout, but Aragorn knew that really he was worrying about you.
As Legolas sat there, he heard Pippin wander up beside him.
. "You know, in all the fairy tales, when the princess falls into a deep sleep, there is always some prince who saves her with a kiss."
Legolas smiled faintly. If only that could be the case.
"You know lad, that would be the sort of spell that YN would end up creating. The lass always was telling stories. Maybe it would work for her." Gimli threw his opinion into the mix.
"He has a point mellon nin," added Aragorn, "It could work."
"And I just so happen to know a certain pointy eared princeling that she is sweet on."
Legolas felt blood run to the tips of said pointy ears. He looked over to Gandalf, thinking the wizard would dismiss these ideas.
However, the opposite was true.
"Having known YN the longest, I can testify that this is the sort of thing that would happen to her. And it actually could work. Legolas, I am afraid you are going to have to kiss the girl."
"Oh no," teased Boromir, "it will be such a burden on him. Surely there is something else that would not force him to do such a thing."
Partly because he thought it could be true, and partly just to get the others to shut up, Legolas did press his lips to your cold mouth.
As he did, he silently told you all he wished he could have said before. As he raised his head again, he felt a hand wrap around his neck, pulling him back down.
He looked down to see your EC eyes staring back.
"By the way, I totally won that race. I still climbed more than you."
