Nissa walked to the door to exit back where Devin and Damien were but it was locked. "W-what?" Nissa started to panic, and fumes started blowing into the room. She tried to hold her nose, but it didn't help, she started to get dizzy, and fell to the floor unconscious.
Two years ago
Nissa was walking down the road with some earbuds in. Police cars with sirens drove past her, she looked back but didn't have much concern for the situation.
Twenty-five minutes later she was coming up to the police station, as she walked in three cop cars were pulling in. She sat down in the chair and set her bag down, and continued scrolling through her phone. Not too long after, she looked up and saw a man in a black coat in handcuffs, then looked back down and kept scrolling. Something touched her ankle, frightening her, she she looked up and saw that a girl was on the floor and tripped over her foot. She took out her earbuds, and went to help her up, "Oh my God, I'm so sorry, I hope you're okay."
She lifted Alexis to her feet, "I'll be fine, it was an accident. Thank you." Alexis made her way to the office where an officer motioned for her to follow. Shortly after a woman approached Nissa and tapped her on the shoulder, "Are you ready to go home?"
"Yeah mom" Nissa nodded and picked up her belongings as she got up. Both of them proceeded to their car and began driving home.
"How was work today?" Nissa questioned. "It went well, thank you. I guess some drug deal was going on and there was a gunshot that went off. A woman was killed during the process"
Nissa's mouth dropped in awe, "Are you serious" she said worriedly, "Mom this is why I don't like it when you work, what if something had were to happen to you." Nissa said, slipping into a trance as she imagined it happening.
"Don't worry, I'll be fine. It's not like I'm not trained, besides I have other officers with me, I'm not alone." Nissa nodded trying to agree, but it still didn't sit right with her. As they were driving, Nissa looked out the window, and saw Jarvis running really fast down the pavement, "What the hell? Mom did you see that guy" she chuckled to herself. "He must've been in a hurry somewhere" her mom laughed.
They pulled up to their house and they stepped out of the car. Forty minutes later Nissa was in her short shorts and a tee, that was her 'pajamas'. A light knock came from her door and it slowly opened, and around the door came in her mothers head, "Hey honey, I'm going to bed. I had a long day, sleep well, love you."
"Love you too" Nissa replied as her mother closed the door. She was scrolling through twitter, bored, and decided to go on a walk around town. She threw on a quick outfit and a coat, then proceeded to head out.As she was walking with her earbuds in, she noticed tara step out of the car at a phone booth from a couple blocks away, and the car pulled off. Nissa took a left and went the opposite way of her. As she came up to the more active part of the city, she started seeing more crowds of people, some drunk, barely able to walk properly, and others just out being normal. She went to the front of a restaurant that was closed and sat at a table that was empty, and began scrolling through her phone. Shortly after, a man sat down at her table, she looked up at him and took out her earbuds. "Umm, hi?" Nissa said feeling uncomfortable.
"Hello, What brings you to this empty restaurant?" He questioned her.
"Umm, no reason really, I just wanted to get out of the house." She shrugged, but distanced herself from him a bit. There was an awkward silence between the two. Nissa played a ringtone and pretended she had received a phone call. When it was over she stood up, and simply said, "I have to go... emergency." She quickly started to make her way up the road, in the opposite direction of her house. She popped her earbuds back in and started singing along to the music. She saw a boy ahead of her on his skate board, but a man with a ski mask pushed him off, grabbed his wallet and sprinted in the opposite direction of Nissa.
"Oh my God!" Nissa started running to the male that was on the concrete. She arrived and saw he was unconscious from the fall. 'What is with all the violence tonight?' She thought to herself. She called a cab, and lifted him into the backseat of it when it arrived. "Take us to the hospital right away" the cab driver nodded and sped off.
When they arrived the cab driver helped her get him into the hospital, and he was taken by the nurses. "Thank you sir" she said.
"No problem." Daniel replied as he got back into his cab and headed off. She sat in the waiting room to make sure he was okay, after two hours went by she decided to go home. She felt like he would be fine. As she started leaving a nurse ran out the door calling for her, "Hey ma'am!" Nissa turned around, and the nurse continued "Brenden said thank you!" She was confused and didn't understand, "Brenden? Who is that" she questioned. "The person you brought in, he wanted to say thank you for not leaving him on the street." Nissa smiled, glad to know he was okay. "Thank you for letting me know." She proceeded to call an Uber and head home.
Nissa slowly sat up, rubbing her head in confusion.
'I met Brenden and Daniel before...?' She thought to herself, unsure of what was going on. She pushed herself up and slowly opened the door.
