Chapter 11

The sun woke Kari, the birds could be heard singing through the trees. Stretching out she rolled over and found Rollo still deep in sleep, snoring softly. Getting up she felt the cold morning air hit her skin and a dull ache in her head. Walking over to the small camp her friends had made and passed out around Helga and Floki were awake, Torstein was just waking up.

"Good morning" Helga beamed a smile and Floki giggled "Yes, good morning, have a good night?" he chuckled again causing Kari to blush as she nodded and sat down, her eyes searching the camp for something to drink. Helga was making something for breakfast when Siggy walked over "Good morning Helga, have you seen Rollo?" Helga shrugged and Floki smirked looking at Kari but Siggy took no notice "Torstein. Have you seen him?" she asked, he was just waking up "I think I saw him with Hjalmar, I don't know leave me alone" he groaned, probably having the same ache in his head as Kari. A groan came from the trees behind them as Rollo walked toward the camp, pulling his hair back into a knot as he sat down "Why are you yelling, it's so early" he groaned at Siggy and she examined him "What happened last night? what did you all get up to?" she asked like an angry mother Floki giggled "Kari tried to fuck the priest but it didn't-" Helga smacked his arm "Shut up Floki" she growled and he smirked "Yeah it was a fun night" Floki whispered, causing Torstein to giggle, Rollo butted in "Torstein almost got laid, but as usual... nah" he laughed "Hey!" Torstein tried to defend himself before Floki burst out laughing. Siggy seemed annoyed, sitting down beside Rollo. "Do you want me to make you breakfast?" she asked him, wrapping her arm around his "No. I'm fine. Can you get me some water? I feel a bit rough after last night" she looked at him confused "the mushrooms" he added and she nodded and went to get a jug of water. Kari smirked and filled a bowl with some dried fruits, nibbling at some, Rollo reached over and grabbed some, giving Kari a smile. "Who said you could have some?" she acted mad, he grinned "Didn't have a problem giving me some last night" He joked, causing Floki to almost choke on his breakfast. "I meant the fruit, and don't act like you wont beg for more later" she grinned watching him raise his eyebrow "I don't beg" he acted tough "You will" she smirked, returning to eating. Siggy walked over with the jug and a mug, filling it with water and handing it to Rollo, sitting beside him smiling. Rollo chugged the water and refilled it, passing the mug to Kari, Siggy looked confused and then noticed Kari's buttons ripped from collar to navel, her dress just barely covering her breasts, wide open "She shared her fruit" he explained smiling "it'll save her walking to get her own" she didn't look pleased "How kind of her" she said bluntly, Kari smiled at Siggy and drank from the mug.

Soon the ceremony of sacrifices would take place, Kari could feel an energy in the air as preparations began. Looking back to make sure nobody had seen her, she slipped off into the woods and followed the fair sound of water rushing towards a nearby river. When she came to a clearing she saw a river deep enough to swim in, perfect for a morning bath. She placed her bag of clothes down on the waters edge under a tree and pulled her dress off, throwing it to the ground. She made her way over to the river and dipped a toe, feeling that it was quiet cold. Biting her lip she walked into the water, past her waist until it reached just under her chest. Small bumps covered her skin as the cold water caused her to shiver for a moment before she became used to it. Just as she was about to dunk her head under a voice came from the wood line "Sneaking away from all the fun I see" Rollo's voice was easily recognised "No, just from you. It seems it didn't work" she faked disappointment and Rollo rolled his eyes "Very funny" he smirked, pulling his shirt over his head he threw it to the ground "What are you doing?" Kari watched his chest as it became bare, his abs flexing as he did. "I need a bath" he responded unfazed, stripping completely, he watched with amusement as Kari watched his every move, walking into the water towards her. "I didn't say you could join me" she blushed "I never asked. Weren't you my slave once upon a time?" He joked, Kari rolled her eyes and turned away from him, going to swim away but Rollo snaked his arm around her waist, pulling her over "I'm sorry" he laughed, pulling her into a hug from behind. Kari frowned and turned to face him "For what?" She asked "Everything" his usual smile was gone "Really? Because I don't think sorry is enough" she smirked, he couldn't help but raise a brow "Oh? So what is enough?" He asked, wrapping his arms around her tighter, pulling her close. "You'll have to work for me. You can be my slave" she couldn't help but giggle. Rollo's eyes grew wide and he chuckled "Hmm, and what would be my duties?" Kari thought for a moment "Taking care of me" she blushed "Didn't I take care of you last night" he smirked, causing her to blush, Rollo leaned down and kissed her jaw, trailing down her neck causing Kari's breath to catch in her throat "Well. You did okay" she grinned, Rollo froze for a moment before he pulled back "Okay?!.... just okay" he acted hurt and Kari laughed "Yep. Just okay. You'll have to do better than that" Rollo narrowed his eyes at the beautiful women in front of him "Ok" was all he said before he grabbed her thighs, hoisting them either side of his waist and walking toward the waters edge, leaning her on the Bank. He left kisses down her neck and nipped at her collarbone, his fingers running up her inner thigh.

The sound of Torstein crying out echoed through the forest and a splash followed causing the two to break apart quickly, Kari crossing her arms over her chest. "Torstein! What-" before Rollo could finish Floki came crashing into the water behind him. Kari looked to the bank and saw Helga sitting under a tree, she waved and grinned at Kari.
Kari slipped out of the water and walked over to her bag, grabbing a linen cloth she wrapped it around herself and grabbed a fur, sitting beside Helga she warmed herself under the fur. The two curled up beneath a bear skin.

Rollo turned to grab Kari and saw she was out of the water and on the bank with Helga, chatting away. He frowned and considered getting out of the water to join them when Ragnar and a few of his friends came from the woods and soon so many people had come to swim that he didn't think he'd get a moment alone with Kari.

Helga couldn't help but smile watching Rollo look disappointed as he chatted with his brother on the waters edge. Kari got up from the fur and walked over to her bag, unwrapping the cloth from around herself, she grabbed another dress and slipped it on, not caring who saw. Rollo saw his friends quickly look over and immediately noticed what caught their attention, he frowned and gritted his teeth.

Kari grabbed some back eye make up and walked over to Helga, sitting beside her again the two began to apply the makeup to their eyes, Kari put some on her finger and swiped it across Helga's cheek in a smooth line, Helga did the same to Kari and then another line from her lip down her chin. Kari grabbed the paint and walked over to Rollo, sitting beside him she drew his attention as she turned to his friend, putting a line of paint on his cheekbone causing Rollo to frown. Ragnar couldn't help but laugh at his brother "Kari paint me" Ragnar grinned watching Rollo as Kari moved closer and painted a Ragnar's face. Just as she was about to get up, Rollo pulled Kari into his lap, causing her to grin "My turn" he grinned. Kari drew a line across his cheekbone, and then one from his lips down his chin, just like hers. His eyes watched her lips as she smiled at her work. "Happy?" She grinned "Don't make me wait next time" he smirked, still with the grin on her lips, Kari leaned in and kissed Rollo, her hands holding his chin. Just as the kiss deepened she pulled back, standing up she went to grab her things and headed into the forest with Helga, towards the temple as the ceremony began to start.
