You can't replace me, you can't. It's almost over and here we are. We're stuck inside this salted earth together. You'll pierce my lungs, my limbs go numb. As my colors fade out, you watch me bleed.”

Danielle's terrified sobs broke through the calloused hand around her mouth. She was turned around and met face to face with the last person in the world she ever wanted to see again. Trace smiled as he looked into her eyes with his fingers around her throat, satisfied.

“Did you really think it'd be that easy to get rid of me? Please, Danielle, you know me better than anyone.”

“We had an agreement, Trace.”

“Oh, and look at that! This is me, breaking it. See, I knew if I personally came after Austin, I would get thrown out before reaching within fifty feet of him. So I got some friends to do it for me. Luckily, Jesse was able to tell me exactly where you'd be on Christmas break!”

“Please stop hurting him.” Danielle pleaded, looking back over at the three guys and Austin fighting each other.

“Oh, no. I'm going to continue to beat him up. Like I've wanted to for years.”

“I feel the same way about you, dude.” A voice behind Trace spoke. He turned around and Danielle was shocked to see Vic throw a punch straight at Trace's face, making his grip around Danielle's neck loosen. She fell to the ground just as Mike walked out right as Trace punched Vic in the stomach.

“No! Go get help!” Danielle shouted when Mike's face turned to horror and he started toward Trace. Hesitantly, he ran back inside to do as she had ordered.

Danielle lied on the ground, looking from Trace and Vic to the guys beating up Austin. What was she supposed to do? She slowly got up and crawled on her hands and knees toward Austin, tears filling her eyes as she got closer.

“Stop!” She screamed. One of the guys turned to look at her, letting out a mock laugh.

“Aw, look, Austin, your girlfriend wants matching bruises.” He said with a smirk.

One of the guys gripped Austin's hair upward so he was forced to stare at Danielle. His eyes were filled with tears, but it definitely wasn't just from them beating the living daylight out of him. A hand gripped her own hair and lifted her upward.

“I can't wait for you to watch me finally do what I've wanted to do to this dude since I met you.” Trace laughed in her ear before throwing her back down on the ground. “Watch closely, Dani! I won't have much time to do the real amount of damage I want to since your savior friends will be here soon!”

Danielle was frozen in fear. Two of Trace's friends picked Austin up and held his arms back. Trace stood inches away from Austin's bloody, bruised face. He smirked before quickly taking a swing at his jaw.

“Trace!” She screamed, finally getting up. He threw in a few more punches to Austin's face and stomach. Austin looked helpless, like he'd given up. He never gives up.

A pair of arms wrapped around Danielle before she could reach them. Good thing, too. She would've gotten just as hurt. She thrashed around, screaming. But then she noticed Aaron, Mike, and Jaime going after the three dudes and the sound of sirens in the distance.

“Danielle, calm down.” The reassuring voice of Ronnie Radke said behind her. She stopped thrashing around, watching as cop lights blinded her and an ambulance drowned out all the noise.
