The First Punch – Pierce The Veil

We're screaming 'why can't we just be friends?' It's not that easy but it's half of the fun to see you throw the first punch now. Such a shame you had to go and run your mouth. Life is what you make it but at least I've got real friends. Can you hear me now? Now that I'm a big star? Fuck you and your new love for yourself. It don't mean shit.”

When their plane landed and they all piled off the jetway, Dani searched and searched for Austin but he was nowhere to be found. She hadn't seen him on the plane at all since she slept most of the trip, but now she wanted to see him more than ever.

She hoped the more she saw him, the less she'd think about Vic. She wasn't sure if that'd work, but every time she saw his face, she couldn't help but smile and forget everything that happened between them. She knew Austin was all she wanted. It took her a long time and a lot of bullshit to realize it, but she knew now. Austin was enough for her.

Suddenly, long arms latched around her waist and picked her up in the air. She screamed as she was spun around a few times.

“Austin!” She screamed, gripping his shirt. Once he put her back on her feet, she turned to look at his mischievously smiling face. She grinned back, hitting his shoulder. “One of these days, you're going to kill me.”

“I could never.” He kissed her forehead. “I love you too much to hurt you.”

Oh, Jesus. Her heart felt like it was just ripped out of her ribcage. She forced a smile and stood on her toes so he could lean down and kiss her. When she tried to break away, he grabbed her face, kissing her more. She started laughing, trying to leave.

“Wait, wait, one more.” He said, giving her one long kiss. He let her go, latching their hands together. As she started walking, he pulled her back, kissing her again. She started laughing, pushing him away.

“Come on, we gotta go, we're holding them up.” She said, still smiling. Part of her was scared Austin knew. He hadn't been this affectionate in months. Maybe he was scared something happened and he just tried to cover it up by being so affectionate with her.

How was she supposed to keep this hidden for the rest of her life?

“It is so good to be back on tour guys, you have no idea!” Danielle said to the giant crowd in front of her. “While having a week off and spending some time with my fiance alone was wonderful, I missed the crowds, the stage, and being stuck in a metal container with my best friends day in and day out.” She looked back to smile at the rest of her band.

Erick played a chord on the guitar while the crowd cheered. Dani fixed the wire on stage and looked behind her to see Austin, smiling at her underneath his hoodie. He just looked so happy to be staring at her, watching her do what she loves. She looked away sheepishly, starting their next song.

“This one's for the man I love most. He puts up with my shit more than anyone I know.”

Once their set was over and Dani ran off the stage, Austin outstretched his arms and she ran into him, hugging him tightly. He kissed the side of her face and said into her ear, “you looked beautiful out there tonight...not that you normally don't.” She looked up at him and smiled. He kept staring into her eyes, smiling. “I just can't believe that you're actually all mine. For the rest of my life.”

I can't believe you're mine.” Dani said, smiling wider than she has in a while. “If someone told me, like, three years ago I'd be your fiancee now, I'd laugh and probably throw up in their face.”
