Whore – In This Moment

I'm the girl you've been thinking about, the one thing you can't live without...You probably thought I wouldn't get this far, you thought I'd end up in the back of a car...You don't know how hard I fought to survive, waking up alone when I was left to die. And you don't know about this life I've lived, all these roads I walked, all these tears I bled. So how can this be? You're praying to me. There's a look in your eyes, I know just what this means. I can be, I can be your everything. I can be your whore. I am the dirt you created. I am the sinner, I am your whore. But let me tell you something, baby, you love me for everything you hate me for.”

In the middle of Of Mice & Men's set, Danielle took a walk outside to have a cigarette. Jake looked in her direction when he heard the door open and she awkwardly stopped where she was, leaning against the wall and lighting the cigarette between her lips.

“So you dyed your hair back for Austin, huh?”

She stared at Jake after taking a long drag. “What's it to you?”

Jake shrugged. “You're a sexy brunette, I'll give you that.”

Danielle scoffed. “Flattery isn't the way to my heart.”

“Seen your ex yet?”

Her heart dropped. She looked at him with an icy stare. “No.”

Jake raised his eyebrows. “Me either. Jesse said he's coming though. I'm sure that'll be interesting.”

“Why do you think you suddenly know my life story?” She asked, turning her entire body to face him.

Jake laughed. “I know enough to know you really like being fucked like a whore.”

Danielle stormed toward him, flicking her freshly lit cigarette in the parking lot. “Listen to me, ass butt.” She gripped his collar. “I don't appreciate all the sexual remarks you make toward me and if I had it my way, I would kick you right off this tour because of the things you've said. I'm surprised I didn't catch anything from you with the way your grimy self gets girls on your bus.”

Jake laughed. “Damn, if you act like this after sleeping with someone amazing, what do you do when you hate someone?”

“I'm ten seconds away from punching you in the face.” She pulled him threateningly closer. “I'm not kidding.”

Jake started laughing again. But just as quickly, he drew back in pain and cupped his hands over his face. He wiped under his nose and looked at the back of his hand. A small stream of blood was flowing from one of his nostrils.

“I said I wasn't kidding.” Danielle shrugged, her hands now shoved in her jacket's pockets. “Let your buddy, Trace, see you like that because then he'll catch the memo of what I'll do ten times worse when I see him.”

She turned and strode back into the venue, having lost all interest to smoke at all. She stormed through the hall, angrier than ever. A door opened and Vic walked out, making her stop short.

“I was just about to come find you.” He said.

“I just punched Jake in the nose.” She blurted, a small smile creeping onto her face.

Vic's eyebrows rose higher than she's ever seen them go. And then, he started laughing. “This is why we're best friends.”

Danielle started laughing and shook her head. “He said Jesse said Trace would be here.”

Vic nodded slowly. “Exactly why I needed to find you.” He stared at her.

She pursed her lips. “I know what you're thinking. But it won't happen.”
