welcome back, but goodbye

recap: Jack looked at her, "we wait for the guardians and we're are going to get our child back and kill those demons. . ."

    JACK AND CUPID FLEW back to the workshop together. Cupid had worry written all over her face, "Jack, do you think she's okay?" she asked. Jack just shrugged his shoulders, "I honestly don't know. But I do know that she is a very strong girl, and our daughter." Cupid smiled a bit and they went into a window that was open.

    North then walked towards them, "I already know what's wrong. . ." he started. The couple started shaking their heads yes, worry spreading through their faces, "we. . .need to get some more chcolate chip cookies! I thought I was the only one who ate them," North exclaimed. "Not the only one. . .he's gonna turn into the grumpy old troll if he doesn't get his cookies back,"Jack whispered to Cupid, trying to brighten the mood, who started giggling uncontrollably.

    North started wandering around, picking up elves who he knew ate his cookies. "You. . .you elves are going on this mission with us. We shall find more cookies!" North said. Cupid came up behind North, "w-well, North, we have a bigger problem than just cookies." She then hid behind Jack when Cupid saw North have a dark aurora around him, "something worse than being out of cookies? What? That's impossible!"

   Jack sighed heavily, "its (D/N), North. She was kidnapped by Lukas Bondevik and he is working with Ivan the Terrible! We have to go, now. They're at the catacombs in Paris," he told North. North froze, "hit the lights and we'll tell everyone where we are going as soon as they get here. Get your son." Jack looked at him like he was crazy, "(S/N)? But he shouldn't know-" North interrupted Jack, "your son, now Jack!"

    Jack ran to his son's bedroom and went inside, grabbing his arm. "Yo, dad, what's up?" (S/N) asked, wondering why his dad was acting so frantic. Jack looked at him, "it's your sister. Lukas Bondevik has her with Ivan the Terrible." (S/N), of course, didn't know what he was up against but by the sounds of it, the situation didn't sound good. He summoned his knife, along with bows and arrows.

   The other guardians arrived and North explained what was happening, pulling everyone into the sleigh. Jack put his arm around Cupid's waist and they took off. It was only a 20 minute ride for how quick the sleigh was, but for the couple, it felt like an eternity. Jack's grip tightened, feeling something bad was going to happen. Cupid just sat there, her eyes filling with sadness and a worrisome expression showing on her face. She tried to stay strong, especially for her son, but her eyes didn't show it.

   They finally arrived and everyone got out as quickly as possible. They then charged towards the two figures they saw, Lukas and Ivan. "Those fools," Lukas started, getting out his weapons, "they're here. Start fighting and put the girl down." Him and Ivan then started fighting the guardians. "Cupid, go check on (D/N) now!" Jack yelled, fighting off the enemy. She nodded and ran over to her daughter, who was knocked out cold.

    Lukas chuckled darkly, seeing her escape the fight. He snuck over to her while Cupid was trying to wake up (D/N), "honey, are you okay? Wake up, baby!" Yet, Cupid didn't get to finish her sentence as she felt a horrible pain in her leg. She screeched in pain, seeing black sand surround her leg and she looked up. There was Lukas, chuckling at her pained expression. Cupid was then thrown against the wall and she glanced down; black sand had started to cover her stomach, ending at her throat.

    Tooth flew over and started to punch Lukas, but he got her arm, twisting it in an usual direction. She screeched in pain, being thrown against the wall and held there. As North held Ivan to the wall by his neck, Jack went over to the two girls who were on the verge on losing there lives. Jack had pain, regret, and worry on his face. "Choose one, Jack," Lukas told him. "I. . ." he looked at Tooth who was too silent and scared to say anything. He then looked at his beautiful wife; her hair was tangled with her short red dress ripped, along with her leggings. "Jack. . ." Cupid whispered.

   "Pick Tooth. . .you do it, Jack. . ." she whispered. "What about you? You'll be-" Cupid cut him off. "I know, Jack. I know. Just do it.

    Jack started crying, "I don't want to choose her, (Y/N)! You said you'll be by my side forever." Cupid, tired and worn out, looked at Jack, "I know, and I'm sorry, but save Tooth. You'll find a way; you aways do, my Jack Frost." Jack continued crying, "I. . .I choose Tooth. . ." Jack said. A second after he chose, he heard screaming coming from Cupid. Bunny ran over, having to hold Jack back from going over to her, "Cupid! No!" Jack yelled. Cupid gave one last sob until her body fell limp to the ground.

    Bunnymund then let go. He looked to the side, too upset to see his beautiful best friend on the ground, not moving. The other guardians looked ashamed, and Sandman looked a darker yellow. The sadness he felt made his usual happy light color turn darker.

   Jack slowly walked over and picked Cupid up in his arms, holding her. Her skin was now lighter than usual, with her clothes ripped and black. Her hair wasn't (H/C) anymore, it was dark and lifeless. Her nails weren't (F/C) anymore, they were black. Everything had changed about her, and Jack shed more tears than everyone has ever seen. Jack just held Cupid in his lap, rocking back and forth, "I'm so sorry. . .I'm so so sorry. . ." he whispered. He thought she would answer, holding onto an empty promise.

   North ordered Bunny to go and kill Lukas while he killed Ivan. Nobody looked, turning their heads at the sound of the enemy's chuckles. (S/N) carried his sister to the sleigh while Jack sat there, still with Cupid in his arms. Bunny walked up to Jack, a hand lightly on his shoulder, "mate, I'm sorry. I really-" Jack turned to him, anger in his eyes, "YOU KNOW NOTHING," Jack yelled, his words echoing throughout the tunnel.

  Jack sobbed again, a hand wiping the tears that have dried, "you have no idea how much I loved her. . .she was perfect. . .and yet, she told me to pick Tooth. I didn't want to." Jack sighed and shook his head, "I have never loved anyone as much as her," he admitted.

   Bunny sighed, feeling very sympathetic towards him, "I know Jack. . .I know." Jack then sat Cupid down and stroked her cheek, "I'm so sorry, baby. . ." Jack then kissed her cheek and got up. He looked at Bunny, hugged him, and started crying, his fur rubbing against the tears.  Bunnymund put his hand on Jack's head, and picked him up. They then started walking towards the sleigh, where everyone was.

   North was trying his best not to cry while Tooth hid her face in her hands. She felt so bad that Cupid had died,  guilt running through her veins. (S/N) just sat there, crying but wiping his tears every so often, and tightened his grip on his sister who was now awake. She had wondered why her mother wasn't there, but put the pieces together, crying as well after North had told her what had happened.

    Jack sat in the back on the sleigh, crying his eyes out while Bunny patted his back, shedding a few tears as well. "Its okay, mate; let it all out. Nobody will judge you." Jack just let it all happen; he screamed, cried, and reached his arms back towards Paris when they were leaving. Bunnymund had to hold him down for a bit, making sure he didn't fall.

   When they got back to the workshop, Jack shuffled to his room, shoulders slunched, and slammed the door shut, locking it. The guardians looked at each other while the two kids headed for their bedrooms. North sighed and looked up to Man in Moon,"is there anything we can do, Manny?" A paper then appeared in front on them.

The note read:

let time pass, and soon, you all will be back to normal. . .

Man In Moon.

The guardians then smiled when they saw that Cupid would return.
