recap: After all of the re-introducing, North had asked Cupid if she would like to become a Guardian, to protect every single child from any fear. And of course, she agreed.
**CHANGED POV TO THIRD
JACK WATCHED CAREFULLY as you made people fall in love. However, it wasn't how it was portrayed in the movies - no sudden revelation. A slow burn, if you will, but adoration absolutely filling their eyes so much so that it was overwhelming.
It had been a few months since you joined the Guardians. You and Bunny had become really close friends, really calling him your brother at times. Many sleepovers spent with Tooth ended up with funky hairdos and many laughs that echoed throughout her own holdout.
Sandy had become your confidant and always knew what to say if you were having a bad day - even if he couldn't say anything at all. And finally, North had taken on the role as your father figure, always wanting to do something with you and knowing what you were up to. It was precious, really.
As Jack watched you do your magic, your lovey-dovey voodoo, as you call it, he was bewildered. It surprised him greatly how you could do that in one shot, consisting of only a few moments of concentration and precision. All you had to do was keep a steady eye on the person and at the second of the bow hitting the right person and them looking at their soulmate, the power evolved into love.
It was magical!
But for the love of Man in Moon, something was bothering Jack, and he couldn't give you his full attention, aside from nodding his head.
He was trapped with his thoughts, and those thoughts included you. Specifically thinking if he liked you more than a friend, a co-worker, so to say.
"Hey, Cupid," Jack started, "I was thinking-"
"Oh good Moon, that's never good," you joked, eyes focused on 2 particular individuals.
"I was thinking," Jack stated again, "if you wanna explore Europe with me tonight?" Jack asked.
"Aww, yeah! That sounds like a great idea, Jack," you said, a smile growing on your face as you let go of the arrow, watching as the 2 friends awkwardly realized that they had crushes on one another.
Jack pumped his fist, "yes! Thank you, Manny!"
You turned to look at him as you fiddled with the straps of your bow and arrow-carrier, "oh, alright, so you're taking Manny out on a date now?"
Jack stopped, "I- no, that's not what I meant! I mean, I am incredibly thankful to him that you said yes but - no." His face was flushed red.
You laughed, "I know what you meant, Frost, I'm just messing!"
The Guardian scoffed while crossing his arms, "yeah, well, you better be."
With another laugh, you punched his shoulder lightly, "wanna get going there, drama queen?"
Jack rolled his eyes with a smile, pulling your hand and flying you both through the sky with you in his arms. Jack chuckled, "thought you could fly? Does it bother you?"
You shook your head, "not my preferred method of transportation, thank you very much."
The Frost Guardian set them both down as they landed, them two looking around to make sense of where they were. However, you pointed out that no matter where you were, you were bound to make the most out of the scenery. Jack nodded his head as he tossed an arm around your shoulder, strolling along with you down the streets of whatever country you landed in.
The best part of the date?
Laughing at almost nothing, big smiles on your faces until you settled in a field, laying down on your backs.
Jack turned to you, "what was your favorite part about being human?"
An eyebrow raised, you looked at Jack until you realized what must've been going through his head - he missed being human. "I miss being able to be seen by everyone, especially my friends and family," you answered, a sad smile on your face.
"When Manny rescued me, I was so, so angry," you started, "why keep me alive like this when I could've just died and somehow communicated with my family, my friends, instead of relying on having to be believed in?"
Jack released a breath, "that's how I felt too, mostly with my sister. I'd do anything just to hear her laugh again."
You reached for his hand, "you'll see her, one day; for now, we can form our own memories, not dwelling on what used to be."
Jack squeezed your hand, "true, you got me there, lovebird."
You shifted your legs so they were bent against the grass, trying to settle the feeling of butterflies in your tummy.
With a small smile, you looked at Jack, "you're older than me yet here I am, being none the wiser than you."
The Guardian rolled his eyes, "you," he pointed at you with the hand that was still intertwined with yours, "irritate me sometimes. I am wise!"
You stuck your tongue out at Frost as he groaned, rolling his eyes as he listened to your words, "but you gotta admit, I basically spoke Ghandi to you just then."
Jack smiled and with a chuckle, he looked back at you, "Cupid. . ."
You squeezed his hand once more, shivering at the coldness of it, "Jack?"
