Prologue: A Windy Day in September

Nico already knew what day it was without even looking up from his bed covers. He didn’t need to look at the calendar or even ask one of his sisters what day it was because he already knew. It was September first. The day the three of them went back to Hogwarts.

Bianca and Hazel were already bustling around the house, that much could be heard. Their fervent last minute packing had sent them in frenzy, and Nico could picture clothes being strewn across their room down the hall. He appreciably looked at his own trunk of things packed a week before, though not like he had anything much to pack anyway. Just some clothes, supplies, and muggle books he planned to read on the train.

Five minutes later he decided to get out of bed and maybe help his sisters. After using the vanilla toothpaste Hazel had mistakenly got for him, he threw on some clothes. His choice of dark colors was almost routine, and he finished off by trying to tame his unruly bedhead, which never really worked given any situation.

Seeing as he was done, he made his way into his sisters’ room, remembering to knock on the purple door.

“Who is it?” It sounded like Hazel but judging from the tone of her voice she seemed like she had other things on her mind.

“It’s me, Nico,” he said hoping to be loud enough though the wood door.

It swung open to reveal the same messy room Nico had pictured earlier. Bianca and Hazel paced around the room looking for hurriedly around the room. They had to be downstairs in half an hour.

“Looking for something?” Nico asked trying to get them out of their trance.

“Actually, yes, we are, do you mind helping us find a pair of Quidditch gloves and a potions book?” Bianca asked with a sheepish grin. Nico sighed but began to look around the room with them.

Twenty minutes later they found (well technically Nico) the pair of gloves behind the head board (Nico wasn’t even going to ask how that ended up there) and the potions book at the bottom of Hazel’s trunk (again he wasn’t even going to ask).

A car ride later, the three of them were at Kings Cross Station, trying to make their way to platform nine and three quarters. Hades and Persephone couldn’t see them off to the train because of a business meeting their father had so he quickly hugged Hazel and Bianca goodbye and (surprisingly) ruffled Nico’s hair and told him to stay out of trouble.

Since it wasn’t their first time running through the platform they made it through safely enough. (Nico’s first year attempt had been disastrous, though no one tried to bring it up anymore. Except for maybe Percy.)

It wasn’t long before they got on the train and went separate ways, Bianca with Thalia and her friends, and Hazel and Nico to their own. Hazel had found Frank sitting in compartment with Jason and Piper and they sat with them. Leo, Percy, and Annabeth joined them, not shortly after.

Nico had the window seat next to Jason who was sitting next to Piper with Leo on the side of her. Frank and Hazel sat next to each other (which wasn’t much of a surprise to Nico) with Annabeth and Percy next to them (again no surprise). It was always a challenge fitting the eight of them in one compartment but it worked every year somehow.

The conversation turned to Quidditch and Jason, Gryffindor’s captain, was eagerly keeping it going. Percy, who could not fly to save his life, was trying to change the topic.

“I got a new owl,” he said proudly, “his name his is Riptide.”

“Really, did you now?” Annabeth asked halfheartedly and maybe a bit sarcastically. It wasn’t her fault her boyfriend was such a dork, inevitably being her dork.

“Yeah, he’s a great flyer. Probably better than Jason,” he said while grinning. At that point everyone laughed at Percy’s straightforwardness with Jason, Nico laughed too which caused Jason to point it out and call it the eighth wonder of the world.

After that Nico, didn’t remember much of the conversation because he pulled out a book about dragons and tuned out his friends.

It wasn’t until Frank had tapped him on his shoulder to go change into his robes did he realize how much time had passed. Hogwarts was only minutes away.

A/N: Hey guys! So basically I uploaded this already but had to take it down and re-upload it because something wasn't working. But since I'm reposting I hope I'll have better luck this time.

Same old same old the characters nor ideas are owned by me. The authors who do however are brilliant.

This story was inspired by aus on tumblr, especially tumblr user RadyCat's. The banner on my ( (old) cover was inspired by xsand_dollar's of the HoO books. And lastly PJandKK fan really helped by motivating me to write and publish this. So thanks to them.

This is my first story in some time so bear with me :). Also if you're wondering whether or not my other story is going to be updated... I'm not to sure. The situation with that story kind of got tricky.

Well thanks for reading and if you want more vote/comment so that I know.  :)
