We arrive at the station and Jay holds my hand as we walk up to the receptionist. She's an oldish lady with her graying hair pulled back into a neat bun and has thick glasses on as she types away on the keys. We get her attention as I place my hand on her desk she smiles politely at us. "Excuse me Ma'am. I'm looking for Detective Jordan please."
She looks tentatively at me. "May I ask what this is about young lady?"
"It's about my father, Terrance Cian." As soon as she hears the word 'father' and his name, her body tenses and her face distorts.
"This way." She spits out as she gets up and leads us to a small office "He will be here shortly." She leaves us after giving me a glare.
"Gee. What on earth is wrong with her?" Jay mumbles after she is out of sight. I shrug and take a seat across the desk. After a few silent minutes, the tired looking detective enters the room and places a file on his desk.
"Good morning Dianne" he sits down with a thump. "Look we don't have any leads-"
I cut him off. "No I'm here because I got a text." I take my phone out and hand it to him, showing it to him.
He gulps and clears his throat "Well. Um..." He suddenly looks very nervous as I motion for him to carry on "he has... Um... Told victims t-to tell the police that.. uh..."
"Spit it out detective. I need to know."
He looks shocked from what I just said but responds to me. "Okay, he has told them that... That he is coming for you... His daughter..."
I knew this would happen. I knew it. "Why can't he just leave me alone? How can this be? Why does he want me? Hasn't he done enough?" He just shrugs and doesn't say anything in return. Jay grips my hand and squeezes it again, I look at him with glistening eyes and he looks at me tenderly. "Well I just came to show you the message. And my reply hasn't gone through so he has switched his phone off... have a good day Detective."
I get up and Jay stays by my side the entire time as we walk back out. As I get into the car he looks at me before switching his car on, I look at him and ask. "Can we go to your house?" Inside I'm hoping he'll say yes, because right now I don't wanna go home nor go back to school.
He looks taken aback by my request, he mumbles something I don't hear and looks like he's deciding whether or not to agree. "Please Jay... I don't want to go home, right now I want to be with you..." I beg him and his eyes brighten up immediately.
"Okay okay." He sighs "first we need to fetch your scooter." He says before heading back to school. I had forgotten about it to be honest.
We slip back into the parking lot and I realize only then that my bag is in my locker. I curse under my breath as I hop out "Dammit... Jay my bag is in my locker." He looks at me and shakes his head.
I giggle as an idea pops into my head, an uncontrollable grin spreads over my lips. "What?" He asks with such innocence in his voice.
"Well... I don't want to go inside... but you can." I give him a million dollar smile. But it is short lived as he begins to shake his head furiously.
"Nope. No. No! You can't be serious. I don't want to go inside I just left." I bat my eyelashes and pout.
"Awhhhh. Please. Pwetty pwease Jwayden" I plead holding my hands out in front of me. While I exaggerate a pout.
He runs a hand through his messy hair and sighs heavily "Fine!! But you owe me big time." I clap my hands and walk closer to him.
"My code is-"
