Chapter Seven: Everyone Knows But Me
"Good morning Bea." Dom stuck his head out on my porch and smiled down at me.
"Hi." I said looking up at him. I moved over a little bit and patted the spot next to me.
"So how are you feeling?" He asked after he got comfortable. I nodded my head.
"Better." I said. I turned to face the rising sun.
"Max talked to me yesterday. He said he wants to talk to you today. Just a warning. I'm not sure how your feeling after the party on Friday." he said rubbing his hands together. I gave him a reassuring smile.
"Thanks." I gave him a hug and noticed his cologne was different today. "Nice cologne." I said as he stood up.
"Thanks." He winked at me as he left my bedroom. I guess I have to go get ready.
I grabbed clothes and headed to the bathroom. Once I was clean and I had dried my hair I pulled my clothes on and looked at my face. My face was clear but I decided to put mascara on and curl my eye lashes. I don't really wear make up but I felt like wearing some today.
When I was all finished I grabbed my backpack and went down stairs.
"Morning sweet pea." My father said. I smiled and grabbed a granola bar. As I opened it Dom came down stairs and grabbed his keys.
"Ready?" He asked me. I nodded and took a bite of my granola bar. As I hopped into the car Dom smiled and pinched my nose. "Everything will be fine today. We have to pick up the twins and Max still but we don't have to get Derek." I pouted about seeing Max but at the same time I was really excited to see him again.
The twins were talking to Max when they got into the car. They looked at me and smiled. Max got in and I turned around. I don't think I'm ready to talk to him but at the same time I really just want to talk to him like we did the first week of school. Max looked like he wanted to say something but then he shut his mouth and waved at Dom.
By the time we got to the school the twins still hadn't gotten me to say a word and Max was just listening to music while Dom tried to talk to him. It was extremely awkward.
I hopped out of the car and headed for the building. Max was right behind me but I didn't say anything. When I got to my locker he walked past me to his. I felt him watching me do my combination but when I looked at him the door to his locker was open and I couldn't see him anymore. I guess I'm making things up in my mind.
Mia came bounding up to me and smiled like she just got some gossip. I gave her my best smile but she wasn't buying it.
"What's up chicken butt." She said leaning on the locker. I felt like talking now because I'm so confused by my feelings right now I needed to tell someone.
"Well first of I don't enjoy being called chicken butt." I heard her snort but just continued. "And I can't stop thinking about the party. It's like I don't want to see him but at the same time I really want to." I was whispering now.
"So first I call you whatever I want because you're my best friend and second you'll understand those feelings soon just let it happen and whatever happens just go with it." She smiled but I knew she wasn't telling me something.
"See you in chem then." I said as I shut my locker and left her there with her dumb secrets.
The day went by normally but Max only sat near me and didn't talk. By chem I was extremely confused. It was like he wanted to talk but he didn't so he would just be near me. I sat in my seat and waved to Mia across the room. She waved back but then started talking to the guy next to her. I think his name is Quinten.
I didn't notice Max came in and sit down but when I looked at him he was just looking at me.
I just decided to start taking.
"So this morning Dom told me you wanted to talk to me?" I asked him. He cleared his throat and nodded slowly.
"Yeah I wanted to say I'm sorry for what happened at the party." He rubbed his neck and looked at me.
I smiled, "I'm glad you apologized. Thank you. Whatever happened at the party doesn't matter to me. I was probably a little bit drunk." I said sheepishly. Max's eyes bugged out when I said I was probably drunk but then he busted out laughing. I let out a soft laugh. Miss. Bennnetts walked in and started class but being the rebel I am we kept talking for a little bit.
After our conversation I felt a lot better and we even started joking around like we normally would.
Max walked to my brothers car with me because we were giving him and the twins a ride home too. Max pushed me and made me drop my bag. I laughed and ran after him. When I tried to push him he just stayed in one spot. He laughed at my attempts on pushing him. I grabbed his bag and ran for my life. He caught me easily.
"I'm still faster than you Bea." He said as he wrapped his arms around my waist and picked me up. I laughed and tossed his bag into the grass as far as I could.
"Whatever you say captain." I laughed when he set me down and rolled his eyes at me. I stood up strait and saluted him.
"Awww look at them. You guys would be so cute together!" Seth said walking over and picking up my bag. He wiggled his eyebrows at Max.
Max's face slowly turned red and he started full out blushing. "Okay guys just get into the car." I laughed with Seth and took my bag from him.
I grabbed Drew's hands and started skipping.
"I don't think Max would like it if you were holding my hand." He said.
"Why's that?" I asked. He just looked at me like he almost told me a huge secret.
"Never mind. Let's go!!" He pulled me towards the car and pushed me into the back and he sat in the front. Max sat on my right and Seth on the left.
"You can thank me later." Drew said over his should to Max. By now I was sick of everyone not saying their big secret. It felt like everyone knew something that I didn't. They kept looking at me whenever they talked about Max.
Whatever. I guess I just have to go with it like Mia said.
