Chapter Fourteen: This is Definitely NOT the End
"Bea." Something touched my cheek. "Bea." I felt the bed dip next to me. "Bea." My hair began to move off my face. "Bea open your eyes." The voice said. I felt a hand stroke my cheek. There's no way Dom would wake me up this nicely. My mom sounds a lot different than that and my dad wouldn't even bother waking me up. Plus there was a pretty amazing smell coming from my right. Max.
My eyes opened slowly and then shut because of the light.
"There. That isn't so bad huh?" He said smiling down at me. I laughed lightly. My voice is so deep and ugly in the morning but somehow this laugh was light and high pitched.
"Your parents are home but Dom left to get the twins. It's about eight thirty. We're going to begin planning our road trip for summer break." He said playing with my hair. I nodded and stretched.
"I'm going to eat." I said standing up and grabbing my book. I fixed my shirt that was really Max's and then set out for the kitchen. Mum and dad were still in bed so I guess I had to fend for myself. Max came hopping down the stairs and grabbed the cereal from the cupboard.
As we ate I read my book. Max never was one to talk while eating anyways. I was on book three in The Wheel of Time series. Dom soon came wandering into the kitchen with the hyper twins.
"Morning Bea." Dom and the twins said. I waved and continued to read my book. Dom slapped Max on the back and the twins ruffled his hair.
"So let's do this in Bea's room." Dom said. "It's probably the cleanest anyways." He remarked with a sheepish smile.
"Fine with me." I said closing my book and taking my bowl to the sink. I grabbed Max's on the way by also. We all went up to my room and settled in.
"Sounds like a plan kiddos." Dom said as we were finishing up the plan. We would take a plane out of L.A. our home town to Brazil. In Brazil we would rent a big van and drive all around doing whatever came to mind. The boys wanted to learn how to long board and I really wanted to do cliff jumping.
Max and I decided to go for a run after we were done planning. I met him in the backyard. We shifted as we walked farther into the woods.
I could tell Max had been feeling stressed about something lately so I decided to lighten the mood. I ran beside him and then nudged him into a sapling. I came to a stop and got into a playful stance.
He tackled me and we began rolling around in the leaves. He picked me up by the scruff of my neck and trotted around proudly like he had just won. I kicked and wiggled to get out of his grip and once I was finally out of his grip he yipped playfully. I tackled him and this time kept him pinned to the ground. I looked into his eyes and saw he was happy and care free right now. Then I got a feeling. Something I've never felt before.
I felt like I could spend the rest of my life happily with Max. I know it sounds super cliche but it was true. I was confused but also glad. I looked into Max's eyes and I could tell he felt the same way.
I could definitely spend the rest of my life like this.
