Chapter thirteen: The Perfect Evening
It's been two weeks since my first shift. Max has taken me on four dates and I've really gotten to know him better. Like his favorite color is orange and he loves chocolate. He's also a very very cocky pool player.
"Bea?" My mom stuck her head in my room. "What are your plans for this evening?" She asked stepping all the way into my room.
"Nothing in particular. Why?" I asked putting down my book. I'm on the second book in the Wheel Of Time series.
"Could you keep yourself free? I want to spend some time with you and you've been so busy lately." She said giving me a skeptical look.
"Sure thing mum." I said standing up. She gave me a quick hug and then left my bedroom. I just saw Max all day yesterday. I'm sure he'll be okay with me going out with my mom.
I decided I would go for a walk. I put on my tennis shoes and then grabbed my book. I headed for the woods once I told my Mum I was going for a walk. She made me take my phone so I would be back by five sharp. She said we were going to a nice restaurant.
Once I was in the woods I completely relaxed and just let my feet wander. I was watching the blue sky through the green canopy. Black outlines of birds diving and swerving in and out of the leaves.
My feet brought me to a small stream. There was a nice big log sitting next to it and it looked like the perfect spot to dip my toes in the water and read. I sat down and took off my shoes and socks.
The water was icy cold but it was very nice on a hot day like today. I opened my book and began to read. I was in a trance were nothing really registered to me and all I heard was the voice inside my head reading the words on the page. I got to chapter twenty six and decided I would continue walking.
I left my book, shoes and socks on the big log. No need for those if I was just going sight seeing. I skipped over fallen trees and branches and soon found myself in a run. Kira was content with this easy pace and laid down to rest. I began to sprint. Everything was fast paced now and my blood was pumping hard.
I ran up a pile of boulders and then launched myself off the other side landing in a crouched position. It was exhilarating.
By the time I got back to my shoes, socks and book it was 4:45. I didn't bother to put my shoes back on and opted for running home instead of walking. When I arrived home Mum immediately commented on how dirty my feet were because I left tracks on the carpet. Oops.
"Go take a shower. I laid out an outfit for you to wear. I hope you don't mind heels." She was guiding me up the stairs and towards the bathroom. Once she closed the door I took a quick shower and scrubbed my feet extra hard.
When I walked into my room a beautiful black dress was laid out on my bed. I remember I bought this for my speech class. It was three quarter sleeved and ended just above my knees. There was a navy blue sweater put to the side. My mum had matched it with a silver necklace and bracelets. The shoes were navy blue pumps. Oh dear. I haven't walked in shoes that high since my speech class last year.
"Do you like the outfit?" Mum asked for the other side of the door.
"Yes it's lovely." I said. I began to pull the dress on. The really nice part was that it was classy and comfortable. Once I finished putting on all the elements of the outfit I went to do my make up. I decided a little bit of mascara was a nice delicate look to go with the outfit.
Once I was finished it was 5:30. Mum was also ready. She was wearing a navy blue dress that reached the floor. She drove us into town and we ended up eating at Cafe Matisse. It was a very romantic restaurant but the food was the greatest.
