TRAVIS IS STILL WITH LUCINDA. BUT IS ONE FAITHFUL ENCOUNTER WITH KATELYN GOOD ENOUGH TO BRING THEM TOGETHER ONCE AGAIN?

-

Katelyn finished her research with Jeffrey, figuring he'd want to go home early to Abby. She waved her best friend goodbye and sighed. She'd been distracted ever since the split. All she could think of was his white hair and glistening green eyes. His voice, the way he laughed at her remarks. It wouldn't go away.

Tears pricked her eyes. She could never let go of him. As she was deep in her train of thought, Aphmau rushed in. "Katelyn, I need you to go to the old cafe!" She said with urgency. Katelyn looked up, wiping her tears quickly. "Okay, why?" Aphmau swiped a couple of times on her phone, her hands shaking intensely. "Dante texted me that there's going to be a meeting there. It's starting in three minutes, this is our only lead!" Aphmau pleaded. Katelyn nodded, ignoring her internal struggles and going into her car and driving.

Aphmau would ask me to stop and think. She'd know what to do. But in the state we are all in, she couldn't abandon a mission like that so easily. Just ignore your feelings Katelyn, they don't matter.

Her thoughts were contradicted as soon as she snuck into the cafe, seeing it was deserted and noone seemed to be there. She crawled in through an exit, getting back up as she noticed no one was in the room. Katelyn scanned the room for any signs of life until she was grabbed and twirled by her wrist into someone's arms. "Hello my Katelyn." Travis smiled, winking at her. Katelyn scrambled out of his grip, reaching for her gun and noticing it was gone.

"You always jump to conclusions! I know that trait all too well." Travis said as he dropped her gun on the ground. He brushed his hands off as Katelyn looked at him in frustration. "What do you want? This isn't a stupid game Travis!" Katelyn snapped at him, her face flushing. "I just wanted to see you again, alone of course. All I had to do was ask Dante to tell Aphmau some false information." Katelyn's eyebrows furrowed, her anger boiling more and more. "Travis, again, is this a stupid game to you?!" Her voice rose.

"Shut it Katelyn! I wasn't just going to tell you my plan. I wanted to talk to you." Travis sat down on a crate and patted the spot next to him. Katelyn walked a bit closer and stayed standing up, crossing her arms and giving Travis a suspicious look. "Look, I didn't necessarily want to join Lucinda's group. It was my father's debt to her. I didn't like leaving my best friend."Travis said, his tone serious. "I don't think you and Aphmau are best friends after that." Katelyn retorted, rolling her eyes and sitting next to Travis.

"I wasn't talking about her. I was actually talking about you." Travis said, glancing at Katelyn as her eyes widened. She felt the familiar heat on her face and in her chest. "R-really?" Katelyn asked, looking at Travis. He nodded, looking forward with a sad expression. "I didn't mean to hurt you. I'm sorry." Travis confessed, sighing in defeat. Katelyn stayed silent, analyzing the words he said and pondered on it. He could be taking advantage of you through your feelings. He could be using you, he could be hurting you again.

Katelyn felt her guard go back up once again. She got back up and brushed off her pants. "If there's no useful information, i'm leaving." Katelyn started to go before he called out. "Please! Don't go." Travis called out with the same tone Katelyn had when he left. She felt her breathing stop as she heard him. She couldn't decide. She couldn't decide if she should leave her past to die or to reignite it again.  She turned around, trying to keep a serious expression. "Please. I already made that mistake. Don't make it too." Travis said, his voice soft and almost silent.

Katelyn felt her heart pounding as she walked towards him. His face was down, staring at the floor in defeat. He looked up and saw her glistening eyes. She sat back down in her spot, not saying a word. As she looked over at him, he did the same and it was just them. Katelyn's eyes lingered on his lips, ones she always wanted to kiss. She leaned in, his breath hitting her nose. She felt her heart beat faster and faster. He was so close to her and she was so close to him. Just as she felt her confidence give out, he leaned in, smashing his lips against hers. Finally, the moment she'd been wanting for so long.

Their passionate kiss couldn't last longer as they parted, their faces still close. "I love you Travis." She whispered, feeling herself smile a bit for saying those words. He chuckled, his green eyes brighter than ever. "I love you too Katelyn."
